This article is part of our series called "People We Like," in which we highlight women across all walks of life.

Parents, chefs, doctors, writers, entrepreneurs—ya know. Interesting women.

Today, we’re featuring Taylor Tomasi Hill— fashion industry veteran, target of many street style photographers’ lenses, one of our go-to resources for styling tips, and the Creative Director of our fave shopping app, The Yes.

The Candidly Questionnaire

1. What’s your most compelling quality?

My work ethic. I’m tireless at it. I’m nonstop, which is helpful when you’re working at a startup in the tech and fashion industry.

2. What’s your worst quality, according to your friends?

I tend to react with my heart rather than my head.

3. What’s an overrated value you don’t buy into?

Status. It truthfully means nothing to me. Who you really are is so much more important.

4. How do you feel about cilantro?

Pile it on! I live in Tex-Mex country, so it’s basically mandatory.

5. What's the most effective beauty trick you use?

Take really good care of your skin and religiously, obsessively use SPF. My personal favorite is Supergoop! Unseen. It’s invisible with a lovely matte finish that lasts all day.

6. How do you get your self-esteem?

Nothing boosts my self-esteem like finishing a successful creative project. It’s my fuel!

7. What meal can you make the hell out of?

I make a mean prosciutto red sauce, bison lasagna is a staple in our home, and bolognese sauce. Ok, my Italian is really showing!

8. What’s your favorite item of clothing you own?

A Junya Watanabe army green tulle skirt I’ve had for over a decade.

9. How do you handle conflict in your closest relationships?

My default mode is to ignore it as long as I can, but eventually I have to face it and deal with it head-on. Maybe that gets easier in time? Let me know!

10. What idea has really challenged you in the last year?

The concept that nearly half of our country believes the former president was the answer to our problems.

11. What Insta account speaks to you deeply?

@alongcameabby. I can go down the rabbit hole watching this little girl and the funniest things that come out of her mouth.

12. What’s your single favorite wellness product that *actually* works:

I’ve been testing Joanna Czech’s new skincare line, set to come out this fall (lucky me!), and it’s legit.

13. What quote or phrase has stayed with you?

People always remember how you made them feel.

14. What’s your favorite show from the last ten years?

Ted Lasso!

15. What’s the most delicious bite of food you’ve ever had?

This question is criminal—there are way too many to pick just one! Auntie Luba’s Kitchen at Turtle Inn in Belize would be a top contender. Or the chef tasting at Blue Hill Farm in New York. Then there’s Lulu’s in Round Top, Texas (the lamb chomp is a must!). Or Olamaie Southern Food in Austin…seriously, I could keep going!

16. What is your single favorite jeans brand?

I’m really in love with GANT men’s baggy distressed denim and this new brand my girlfriend got me into, Tu Es Mon Tresor. Every pair is hand-finished in Japan, which is cool.

17. Is social media ruining our brains?

No—as long as you strike a delicate balance. I get a lot of inspiration from Instagram and I’ve been better about getting out of the endless scroll.

18. Describe your actual bedtime routine.

Usually I’m on my laptop while a movie is on in the background. I often fall asleep with my glasses on. I'm trying to get better at my nightly skincare routine though.

19. What’s your relationship with bangs?

A high maintenance affair. I had them once, but not again!

What is your single favorite:

Lip balm: Mustela Nourishing Stick with Cold Cream.

Mascara: RMS. I’m allergic to everything else I’ve tried.

Sweats: The Great—they have the softest tees and sweats around—and Kule.

Last minute gift: Marie Sharp Hot Sauce. I give it to practically everyone who comes to my house.

Bra: I still wear old-school triangle bras from Calvin Klein. They’re a forever classic.

Comfortable shoes: I started wearing Crocs when I started my garden, and now I wear them all over town.

Splurge skincare: Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. I feel slightly guilty spending that much on a moisturizer, but I have extremely dry skin so it’s worth it.

Drugstore skincare: Weleda Skin Food. I like to alternate it with the Augustinus Bader.

Everyday bag: My Clare V. Midi Sac Crossbody. It’s the perfect size for just the essentials.

Drink: Bourbon neat—no fuss, here.
