by The Candidly Team

This article is part of our series called "People We Like," in which we highlight interesting women, across all walks of life.

Leaders, great cooks, doctors, parents, writers; people who inspire us.

Today, we’re featuring Kerry Docherty, Co-Founder and Chief Impact Officer at Faherty, the beloved sustainable brand that’s making some of the prettiest, most flattering, easiest to wear staples in our closet at this very moment - the kind of clothes clothes that “feel” good to wear every way around.

The Candidly Questionnaire

1. What’s an overrated value you don’t buy into?

Unwrinkled skin. Why would I be groomed to fight the most natural inevitable sign of my continued aliveness?

2. Are essential oils anything?

I’m a sucker for using a scent to change my mood.

3. What's the most effective beauty trick you use?

Sleep and copious amounts of carrots.

4. How do you get your self-esteem?

You don’t GET self-esteem. You practice loving kindness compassion to yourself on the daily, whispering quietly “I love you” to yourself a hundred times a day.

5. What meal do you dream of?

 Rigatoni with vodka sauce.

6. What’s your favorite (non-living) thing in your house right now?

My bath. Always. We have a nightly love affair to wash off my day.

7. How do you handle conflict in your closest relationships?

Usually avoid conflict until I’m ready to burst and then yell FUCK at the top of my lungs and then quell my temper tantrum with deep breathing and then have to share how I actually feel through sobbing tears. (I don’t recommend this process.)

8. What’s your most compelling quality?

That I’m hilarious but humble.

9. If you could only follow one account on social media, who would it be?

Meh. No idea.

10. What’s something you’ve changed your mind about in the past year?

Pickles. I kinda like them now.

That it really doesn’t matter how diverse my children’s palate is. One day, god willing, they will eat more than buttered noodles.

11. What do you do to get into a flow state?

When I’m about to write a poem or walking by the ocean.

12. What would be a non-negotiable demand on your rider if you went on  tour?

Organic whole carrots (NOT Baby carrots, WHOLE carrots).

13. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about yourself as a leader?

That being vulnerable and transparent is way more important than simply DOING things.

14. Is social media ruining everything?

No, it’s only showcasing things that already exist.  Nothing is good or bad; it’s how we use it.

15. No one is home. Nothing is due. Emails are answered. You have the day blessedly to yourself. What do you do?

Literally scream in euphoric glee, then take a walk while listening to dark depressing music by the ocean, leave a Marco Polo for a friend, get a hot coffee even though I’m already caffeinated, take a bath while scrolling, see something that makes me want to write a poem, head to my wild and unruly garden and instead of weeding, just proclaim, “WOW, I planted all these seeds and things GREW.” Then I’d make rigatoni, light a fire, and watch a show on psychics.
