We do a lot of incidental things for leg strength, like completing the odd number of squats while our cheesy sweet potato is heating in the microwave or strapping THESE* to our ankles while out for our daily walk.
But we admit, with our newly prominent belly pooch and constant need for arm tonage, we sometimes forget the wild power of a strong leg. Well, recently something made us remember and reeeeeallly want to buckle down. And it was this:

We saw Shailene Woodley in this little, white dress, winning an Emmy for the show Paradise, but our focus was on something else, namely her astonishing legs.
What? We’re definitely not above being inspired by the astonishing, golden glutes of a celebrity. And it’s not like we find ourselves internally chanting “Shai-lene, Shai-lene” every time we do a curtsy lunge ... or do we?
The point is, it got us motivated. And that got us searching for an extremely doable, at-home leg workout that doesn’t feel overwhelming to our ever-mounting list of shit we’re supposed to do now that we’re plopped at the center of “mid-life.”
So many complicated workouts make us feel like curling into a ball on the couch in fatigue just thinking about them. So this time, we went for simple, simple, simple … BUT very effective.
Ok, so here’s what we’re doing. We follow this routine from a TikTok trainer, fitby.addy, who, we have to say, has become a favorite of ours.
It’s just 4 moves. We do 10-15 reps of each exercise and repeat the whole circuit 2-4 times through. And we do the whole routine 2-3 times a week
The dumbbells you use should be whatever weight feels challenging without sacrificing form. We personally keep THESE* in our living room for quick reps that we squeeze in while watching “Dancing with the Stars” because you’ll never see so many motivating legs in one place.
Here’s the workout:
And that’s it. Be sure to look at the full description for posture tips. Isn’t it wild that this stuff is free? Social media may be ruining the world, but by god, what it’s about to do for our thighs.
Thinking of checking in here in 6 weeks to let you know if we’re ready for a Woodley-esque reveal. And if you do it too, please let us know how it goes HERE.
