There’s an entire world of clothing that may as well be in a museum because while we may stare and marvel and maybe even feel moved by it, there is no way any of it’s coming home with us.
Such is the case with Khaite and The Row - two brands we are just not in the financial bracket to shop - the clothing equivalent of the M on our Junior High MASH board.
There are so many perfect, elevated, and timeless staples coming out of both brands that are simply more interesting and lustworthy than most things out there. Like THIS* very viral sweater … which rings in at a very reasonable $2k. Or THIS* bag that Vogue immediately deemed a “future heirloom in the making.”
But just because we lack the budget doesn’t mean we lack the taste level to dress in the aesthetic of these designers. We were determined to locate the precise, more affordable brands that would fill the Khaite-shaped hole in our closets (*cough* hearts). We found 8. And by God, they are beautiful.
1. ALMINA CONCEPT
For perfect fits and THE BEST EVER version of that Katie Holmes cardigan.
V Neck Cardigan
For years, we have been praying for an exquisite alternative to the Khaite cardigan we all watched Katie Holmes wave down a cab in and thought, “By God to dress like that.” This one is practically indistinguishable save for being less than a fifth of the price. Its made of a gorgeous wool and has a fit that makes us weak. The waist, the pockets, the sleeeeeeves. We feel certain we will be chicer humans once we own this sweater. Because the quality is incredible (the kind you pass down through generations) it’s still an investment but far, far from a 2k investment.
Price: $345
2. COS
For tailored pieces that look like you spent 3x more on them than you did.
3. MODERN CITIZEN
For amazing tops and dresses and unique spins on classic designs.
4. KALLMEYER
For your absolute most favorite “nice” white t-shirt.
5. POSSE
For supremely feminine moments that make you shine.
6. SAINT ART
For killer cuts that others can only envy as you walk down the street.
7. FAVORITE DAUGHTEr
For the most sophisticated staples that still feel uniquely like you.
The Jean Belt
We actually wrote an entire article about Favorite Daughter’s belts because they’re our favorite belts we own. Don’t buy the indecipherable others that cost $500. Don’t splurge on that logo-forward designer one (you know the one). Just buy this from FD, and let the compliments roll in.
Price: $148
The Heartbreak Kitten Heel
It’s the collab we didn’t know we needed - Dr. Scholls and Favorite Daughter. But now, we can’t imagine our lives without these wildly comfortable heels. For some reason, they go with everything while also making our outfits 17X more exciting. We’re so happy we got our hands on them before they inevitably sell out. Cannot recommend more that you do the same should they have your size.
Price: $250
8. ROHE
For artful, eye-catching pieces that should win awards.
At The Candidly, we try a lot of stuff so you don’t have to. We only recommend things we truly love, and that we think you’ll love, too. All products are chosen independently by our creative team, and all details reflect the price and availability of products at the time of publication.
