That title is a big statement. I know. But I thought long and hard about it and I feel very confident that it’s true.

The perfect pair of boots is one of those things we all long for, and I’ve definitely deeply loved some boots along the road, but none as much as these.

Now, look. They are not cheap. They’re not crazy either. But they’re insanely on sale right now. For THE most comfortable, versatile, chic boots I’ve ever slipped onto my paddle feet, the price makes sense.

And finally, for the 4 of you who are still reading this intro and haven’t swiftly scrolled past it to actually see the goods, I want to say one more thing. I’m a boring dresser. I like black and white and grey and denim and basics. Sometimes I’ll do a pattern like this* or this, but usually it’s just a very simple outfit. And so what I’ve noticed about these boots is that while they’re very simple, they also make every boring outfit come to life in this truly miraculous way.

But now, I’ve whinged on enough. You need to see them for yourself.

p.s. They’re wildly on sale right now!

Here they are jzujzjing up literal house clothes which is a fun thing I like to do. And the boots* are so gorgeous they make pajamas look chic. And I need you guys to hear me when I tell you I have ZERO capacity for foot pain in my old age, and even though these have a slight heel, I can walk all day in them, and they feel like nothing. Truly.

Is there a fall that goes by where we don’t all want a jean-tucked-into-boot outfit that’s simple and effortless but doesn’t feel too 2009 Pinterest/big dumb hat? The answer is no. Although there are too many double negatives now so I’m confusing myself. The point is, jeans tucked into boots are the fall dream scenario, and these boots* are wide and slouchy enough to accommodate—the leather is BEYOND delicious and soft. But if you hate that look (why?), they still easily fit under straight-leg jeans.

I don’t know what that white after Labor Day rule is, but I don’t follow it. White on the bottom is one of the best ways to dress boring while still looking chic. And there’s nothing like a maxi skirt with tall boots*. It keeps the 70s alive. Diane K would have approved of this look I think.

When we wear all black (cuz we’re boring) we tend to want to wear a black shoe, but a TAN* one is so much chicer. And again, since we know the goal here, it allows us to be mindless and boring with our clothes while never actually appearing mindless and boring. (Ps: those jeans are a miracle* and they’re affordable.)

This wins for best fall outfit I’ve ever put together while still being basically boring. The boots*! The boots make it sing! Long, trouser shorts with slouchy tall boots might be something I’ve just invented, but it’s perfect. Especially if you want some style but also hate your knees and also just need to feel entirely comfortable at all times. And this look really shows the versatility of these boots—they can be fully tall (with great calf room) or slouched down for a slightly Flashdance-inspired feel. This is the fall version of this summer evening outfit I wore the entirety of August:
