This Clothing Brand Your Mom Loves Is Actually Good
Very, very good in fact.
by The Candidly Team
There are many things we want to tell you about this brand. And we have to do it really quickly before we tell you which brand, because we’re afraid you’ll just read the name and bail.
Ok. Here are the highlights:
It’s quality - not flimsy fast-fashion but pieces that are meant to be kept and washed and worn forever.
The cuts are clever - made to flatter real, curvy women with hips, butts, and belly pooches - the kind of clothes we feel good wearing.
The designs are a mix between classic and cute, understanding that we want to be comfy and kind of covered up but absolutely NOT look old and frumpy.
The size range goes from XXS to 3X. And it has petites.
Right, so that’s the gist. Time to name names.
It’s Eileen Fisher.
Questions? We’re sure you have a few. But if our wordy intro didn’t convince you to check them out, we have selected 9 pieces that are such solutions to our everyday dilemma of getting dressed that we’re sure you’ll be converted by the end of this article.
We don’t argue with Audrey. Throw on this top, and you’re chic, chic, chic.
Price: $168
2. Washable Flex Ponte Arch Pant
This curve/ barrel shape makes legs their finest, and our whole look comes off younger and more “cool girl” than when we wear a straight-leg ankle pant. They have an elastic waist, which is heaven and are made from doubleknit ponte which means they keep their tailored shape and last forever (hence them being more of an investment). They’re also machine washable, which is a huge relief for a pair of “nice” pants we intend to wear constantly and not spend $3,257 on dry cleaning over our lifetime.
Price: $218
3. Lightweight Boiled Wool Shawl Collar Vest in Regenerative Wool
It’s these kinds of pieces that exemplify the brains behind Eileen Fisher. The lines are super clean and the pockets nice and big, so there’s zero frump. It’s actually so skimming, and yet, you get all this extra tum and hip coverage. Wear it over fitted sweaters or long-sleeve tees and jeans or skirts. It works with everything, especially on days we feel bloated to our ankles but still want to look cute.
Price: $240
5. Washed Organic Cotton Poplin A-Line Skirt
Elastic waists plus airy poplin are both an apple and pear-shaped gal’s dream. We love this poppy red color with the above white button-down, but it also comes in black, which we wear out in the evening instead of squeezing ourselves into a dress.
Price: $120
7. Washable Flex Ponte Blazer
We want our blazers to look like they have structure, but all we want to feel in them is stretch. We need to be able to move our arms and shoulders and not feel constricted, and the flexible ponte in this one makes this possible. Plus, we get to look very smart throwing it over a white tee and jeans so we can recreate this look that we can’t stop copying these days:
Name that movie.
