This isn’t the first time we’ve credited Jennifer Aniston with creating a foolproof outfit template we all wanted to copy as over-40 women with classic style. And it probably won’t be our last.
The simple reason is this: Jennifer has that rare combination of “quiet luxury” and coolness. Her clothes never look too-overdone. They’re elegant, but there’s also a casualness to them that makes her look more youthful. It’s kind of the holy grail of fashion after 40.
But enough of our drippy adjectives. Let’s take a good look at the template:

Now, this is just one variation of a few different ways we can adapt a look that will never not look chic. But it’s a uniform Jen adheres to all the time precisely because of how well it works. We can recreate it very easily, likely with a lot of pieces we already own. And most importantly, we don’t need to have Jen’s otherworldly body or sky-high budget to recreate it.
We found everything you need to attain Jen’s stunning street style, but with way, way more affordable pieces. Everything on the list is under $80 (save from 3 still affordable, “alternate” items we snuck in because we can’t seem to follow our own rules).
Ok, let’s begin:
1. THE TOP
The Fave Tank
WHAT: The '90s Shell Tank in Compact Cotton*
Why We Love It: Proportions are a big part of why this outfit works so well, and a fitted top looks great with belted jeans. We must admit, the high-neck, black muscle tank is something we first fell in love with on Carolyn Bessette Kennedy - another “classic girl” icon. This one is timeless and flattering, AND it covers our bra straps!
Price: $38
The arm coverage tee
WHAT: Everlane The Luxe Rib Scoop-Neck Tee*
Why We Love It: If you don’t do sleeveless, we cannot recommend this finely ribbed t-shirt more. It covers the thickest part of the arms, frames our chests with that lovely curve, and makes our waists look shrunken.
Price: $34
The full-length, silk Top to turn it semi-fancy
WHAT: Quince Washable Stretch Silk Notch Collar Blouse*
Why We Love It: You’ll also see Jen, dressing up this look by swapping the tank for a button-down. We love this real silk, washable, and affordable version from Quince for an elevated, going-straight-out-to-dinner-look.
Price: $80
2. The JEANS
The Cuffed
WHAT: Risen Scottie Large Cuffed Jeans*
Why We Love It: We envy Jen’s cuffed way of wearing jeans but it always looks awkward when we try to recreate it on our own long jeans. Hence, we turn to this perfectly, pre-rolled-up pair. Risen jeans are a hidden treasure very few know about, but those who do must buy them in bulk, because they sell out ALL the time. They’re stretchy and supportive at the same time, so we basically feel like we’re in joggers, yet the cuts are chic enough to be designer. They look fantastic on our butts, too.
Price: $74
WHAT: J.Crew Factory '90s Vintage Baggy Jean*
Why We Love It: We get more compliments on these wide-leg jeans than the ones we spent 4x as much on. They’re classic and the ideal length to work with almost every shoe.
Price: $59.50
The Straight Leg That Actually Fit
WHAT: Quince Bella Stretch Straight Jeans*
Why We Love It: For a more fitted, very classic straight leg, we LOVE this stretchy, sculpting pair from Quince. (Drink every time we use the word classic in this article.) The comfort and fit of these jeans is WILD for the price.
Price: $50
The White Version
WHAT: J.Crew Factory Wide-leg Cropped Jean In All-Day Stretch*
Why We Love It: And finally, we introduce the white jeans. It’s something Jen herself has swapped into this same outfit template because nothing looks chicer with white on the bottom than black on top. If you want to up-level this look, get these jeans. The stretch is perfect and the leg is jusssssst wide enough to flatter everyone and make it not intimidating to wear white.
Price: $64
3. The BELT
The Steal
WHAT: Quince Allegra European Leather Belt*
Why We Love It: A black belt is critical to tying this ensemble together. It’s why it looks “styled” instead of just like clothes. This European leather version is a great price - also from Quince.
Price: $50
The Best
WHAT: Favorite Daughter The Jordan Belt*
Why We Love It: We had to include our favorite black belt in the world. Highly recommend just getting this and being done with it.

Price: $108
4.THE SHOES
The Loafer Mules
WHAT: Quince Italian Leather Horsebit Loafer Mule*
Why We Love It: The spitting image of Jen’s exact loafers. The details makes the whole look extremely "quiet luxury.”
Price: $72
The Nude Flips
WHAT: Tkees Lily Nudes*
Why We Love It: Jen can most often be found in a nude flip, which again, looks good with every length of jeans. Tkees has every shade of nude in the prettiest, minimalist, leather design.
Price: $65
The Sleek Sandals
WHAT: Nisolo Stella Go-To Block Heel Sandal*
Why We Love It: A strappy sandal with buttery straps and a block heel is how we get height without foot pain. Nisolo makes our favorite pair, which we own in both black and almond.
Price: $170
5. The CAMEL HAT
The Steal
WHAT: San Diego Hat Felt Panama*
Why We Love It: What’s the point of styling all our clothes when we absolutely refuse to wash and style our hair? This hat is a solution. And it actually makes the whole outfit better.
Price: $23
The Fedora
WHAT: Gigi Pip Wesley Wide Brim Fedora Hat*
Why We Love It: This hat brand makes the most flattering styles on every size of head, so if you’re of the mind to invest once, wear forever, we highly suggest getting this one over a budget version.
Price: $138
6. The LBJ (LITTLE BLACK JACKET)
The Jacket
WHAT: Calvin Klein Two Button Short Jacket*
Why We Love It: Any slim, tailored black jacket or blazer will do, but Jen often wears a shorter cut, which makes your waist look more nipped and your legs look like they start higher.
Price: $60
The Linen Blazer
WHAT: J.Crew Margeaux Blazer In Stretch Linen Blend*
Why We Love It: This blazer has the single most flattering, slightly hourglass shape that is hard to beat. We love it in linen for warmer days that randomly turn cool at 3:22pm.
Price: $136.50
Bonus: The Accessories
THE BAG: Jen’s been seen with the designer version of this exact bag. This one is real leather and 27x cheaper.
THE COIN NECKLACE: The perfect balance between understated and statement.
THE LIGHT SCARF: Soft, airy linen makes for the perfect spring/ summer layering piece.
THE SUNGLASSES: These sunglasses have all the elements to be designer but cost just $50.
