Forget Quiet. Here Are 16 “Loud Luxury” Pieces That Only SOME Of You Will Love

We’re making more noise in 2024.

by The Candidly Team

Ninety percent of the time when we talk about clothes, we’re talking about basics.

Basics are the cornerstone of any (wearable) closet.

But we also like weird things. Memorable things. Artistic, cool, interesting pieces that flood our hearts with joy.

These unique things we invest in are what make our clothes go from sensible to styled. But we must choose carefully here. Once you dip a toe into “kooky” you are 3/4 of the way to your nearest Chicos and we’re having none of that. Cheap, overwrought, splashy things worn with our painstakingly crafted closet of basics can start to look old and sad verrrry quickly.

So, today we bring you 12 “loud luxury” pieces that are artful. Tasteful. Striking but timeless. Every single one “makes” an outfit.

Let’s begin.

1. Sophie Rue Wrenley Wool Coat

We don’t even care that red is a trend right now. We’re too tired for trends. But throw this perfect scarlet overcoat on over practically anything, and you’re suddenly the chicest person on the street. That, we’re all for.

Price: $275

2. Margaux The Mary Jane In Silver Mirror

Putting a thrilling finish on something classic like a Mary Jane ballet flat is one of our favorite tricks for elevating our clothes without feeling over the top or costumey. This shoe makes anything else we wear with it look wildly more expensive. Even when it’s THESE $30 pants from Amazon and THIS incredible-quality, budget-friendly cardi, especially when it’s with those two things in fact.

Price: $295

3. J. Crew Collection wide-leg essential pant And Blazer Jacket in plaid Italian city wool

I hereby present the set that looks impeccable on every human of every shape and size. Yes, you can wear just the pants with a $19 black turtleneck and look like you spent $1000 on your outfit. Or you can layer the chic jacket over a slinky, black slip dress and pointy flats, and poof, you’re luxury itself. But wearing them together, especially with a comfy heel or a lug-sole loafer just sort of takes our chicness to new heights. Plus, it gives us Diane Keaton vibes, which is never a bad thing. Last but not least, because it’s J. Crew, it’s probably on sale at this very moment.

Price: $268 for the pant, $398 for the jacket

4. Tuckernuck

Cream Catena Necklace

Sometimes scale is the truest (and funnest) emblem of luxury. Half of you will hate this, but the other half will know exactly how satisfying it would feel to fasten this on over a slinky black dress, and know that we just transformed ourselves from meh to marvelous with almost zero effort.

Price: $138

5. Sézane Edward Jumper

Is this not the 80s sweater we’ve always dreamed of owning? In addition to being one of the softest things to ever touch our skin, this sweater makes our daily uniform of perfect-fitting jeans and comfy sneaks into a gorgeous look.

Price: $160

6. Shashi Kate Earring

Bows are having a moment. We’d like to petition for that moment not to end. These bold, yet still somehow minimalist, bow earrings are the only thing we’re using to “dress up” these days. Because they’re all we actually need.

Price: $88

7. Sarah Flint Reversible Scarf Waist Belt

Hear us out, because we know this one is a major dip into splurge territory, but honestly have you ever seen anything like it? And how genius is it? Or maybe you’re asking what is it, in which case allow us to explain. The belt itself is wide and gorgeous leather with perfectly placed holes in which to weave your favorite scarf. Our favorite silk scarves come from HERE. The patterns make us gasp, and the fact that we can change them out in this belt for all of time appeals to us on both a deeply emotional and highly practical level.

Price: $350 for the belt, Price varies for scarf

8. Jeffrey Campbell Rosing Heels

Surely inspired by THESE, but at a (semi) affordable price. Imagine with just a simple black dress? Yes.

Price: $195

9. Kule The Oversized All Over Heart Sweatshirt

If you haven’t heard of Kule, they’re doing spectacular things with stripes and prints that perfectly tow the line between being fun and bold but also extremely wearable, which is especially excellent for us over-40 ladies, who most days just want to be wearing a comfy tee or sweatshirt, but still want to look good and styled and not like slobs.

Price: $168

10. Spanx Tight-End Tights® Sheer Polka Dot

First of all, tights are the only way we get through any cold portion of the year without being bored to death. So the polka dot just makes everything more exciting. We wear these with our favorite skirts and boots, and we feel invincibly fashionable … aka French.

Price: $34

11. Never Fully Dressed Gold Vegan Leather Jaspre Skirt

If you’re at all curvy, we swear a sleek, vegan leather wrap skirt is the most flattering, godsend piece you didn’t know you needed. This skirt in gold with a tucked, crisp, white button-down is a foolproof going-out uniform that will attract an uncanny number of compliments, but that you’ll feel comfortable and unselfconscious in it all through the night. It does also come in black and neutral hues for those feeling slightly more quiet luxury. And it sizes up to 26!

Price: $155

12. J. Crew Collection Santorini bag with feathers

For any event, from now until the end of time, you can wear a basic, boring dress because this bag does all the work.

Price: $160

13. The Great The Down Polar Vest

As much as we drone on about appearances, we care most about being warm and cozy. And since comfort is like 82% of what luxury is all about, this floral puffer vest thrills us on so many levels. We toss it on over buttery leggings, lug-sole booties, and our softest long-sleeve tee, and in addition to being our absolute coziest, it also hides our belly pooch and gives us an incontestably cute shape.

Price: $245

14. Tuckernuck Middleburg Toile Suze Dress

We’re not opposed to looking ever so slightly Victorian, especially in a dress this gorgeous and flattering. Oh, and it sizes up to XXXXL.

Price: $328

15. Sleeper Party Pajamas Set with Detachable Feathers in Black

Is it unhinged to own ostrich-feathered pajamas that require dry cleaning? Yes. Yes, it is. Which is why we don’t wear this to bed. We wear it to parties. And we have zero regrets. Zero.

Price: $273

16. Hill House Ashley Bow

We leave you with the most perfectly wrapped up way of wrapping up your most perfectly luxe outfits. The way it falls. We die.

Price: $38
