11 Pieces We Adore For Fall That Our Husbands Will Absolutely Despise
They married into a certain level of coziness.
by The Candidly Team
If you hang out on our site a lot, you might be under the impression that we like to look pretty spruced up and put together. But most days, we look like some version of this:
Ok, maybe not that extreme. But we certainly do favor comfort. And we certainly don’t dress “for the male gaze” as they say.
Overall, we do sort of try to keep our comfort-to-chicness ratio in balance. But there are some pieces that we die for that we know our spouses will never come around to. Does it give us a moment’s hesitation? Of course not. Our comfort-to-caring-what-other’s-think ratio is deeply skewed to the former, at least since we hit perimeno. But that’s for another article.
Now before you accuse us of being biased or sexist, we obviously acknowledge that this works the other way. There are a plethora of things our husbands show up in that do many things, but inspire lust isn’t one of them.
And it’s not that we don’t like to put together a sexy(ish) outfit now and again. We even dip an occasional toe into non-ridiculous lingerie. But most days, we dress in clothes with a cuteness and comfiness that serves us, first and foremost. And we figured they might serve you as well.
So let’s take a peak into our drawers and our shopping carts to see the exact pieces that our husbands would happily burn if we were away for a week.
1. These Fluffy Boots That Spark Joy All Winter
WHAT: UGG Women's Classic Short Fluff Momma*
Do we need to write words about this? All the emotion these UGGs inspire is right there. You either feel it or you don’t. But there’s no denying how they feel on our tired, old feet. Bliss!

2. These Pants Every Woman Should Own Because While They Seem Like You're Wearing A Diaper They Somehow Make You Look Waifish
WHAT: FP Movement Hot Shot Harem Pants*
That enormous elastic waistband, my friends. It’s a dream on belly bloat. Other than that, we honestly can’t explain why the shape of these pants, that dramatic drop followed by that cinched ankle, makes our legs look like twigs. When pants do a thing like this, we don’t question it. We just buy them in every color.
Price: $78
3. This Sweater That Feels Like A Fight We're About To Start
WHAT: Gyles & George I'm a Luxury Sweater Pink*
First, you need to see the whole thing:
Ok, now we can talk about it. Everything from Rowing Blazers is arguably among our favorite things that our partner is simultaneously perplexed by. Their sheep collection* made famous by Princess Diana. Their somehow gorgeous Winnie the Pooh knits*. But this sweater is just a jewel among treasures.
Price: $228
4. These Barrel Jeans That Sort Of Do Nothing For The Butt And Yet, Have Become Our Favorite
WHAT: AG Hattie Crop Jeans*
We love many styles of AG jeans because of how flattering they are on the bum. THIS* pair and THIS* pair, for example, are both unbelievable. This barrel jean is definitely roomier, but the curve in the leg does something to our overall shape that makes us look better than we do in most other jeans. I mean certainly better than we do in skinny jeans:
And let’s be real here. Styled with a waist-nipping top, they’re definitely dancing round the realm of sexy:
Price: $245
5. This True Tent Of A Longsleeve Tee
WHAT: We The Free Two Sense Long Sleeve Top*
Please just go LOOK* at all the angles of this top, because yes, it’s a giant t-shirt, but it has artfulness and edge, a kind of cool-factor combo that makes baggy clothes not look frumpy and old and sad. We wear it loose, but you can also half tuck it and poof, kinda French-lady chic, right?
Price: $78
6. This Absolute Mumu Of A Sweatshirt
WHAT: We The Free All Here Oversized Sweatshirt*
Oh here’s just another garment that looks pretty cute with our best, buttery leggings and maybe some cozy, cashmere socks scrunched at the ankle*. Yes, we are children of the 80s. And yes, we have this in our carts in 3 colors.
Price: $80
7. These Massive Pants For A Really Sexless Look
WHAT: ASOS Design Cotton Nylon Super Wide Leg Pants*
We do layer these pants like so in autumn with a crisp, button-down and a sweater tied round the waist, and it feels very tomboy-chic with zero tightness on any part of our body. But if you look beyond the layers, they’re actually really hourglassy and flattering
Price: $65
8. These Chunky Clogs That Came Straight From 1992
WHAT: Dansko Baylor Mule Clog*
This clog gets us more DMs than any item of clothing we wear. having a chunky shoe like this balances your whole outfit, especially when you wear a looser top, so you don’t look like an upside-down triangle. They also work with all our pants. Full disclosure, they’re selling out everywhere, and we could only find them on Amazon. So if you love, be swift!
Price: $90
9. This KNIT Caftan That Came To Us In A Dream (That We Then Googled And Found!)
WHAT: Ripley Rader Black Sweater Knit Long Caftan*
I mean that dipping neckline could attract the attention of a certain someone who shares our bathroom sink, but this dress, which is made of SWEATER material and covers the entirety of a thick arm, is so spot-on made for us.
Price: $320
10. These Wonderfully Loud And Completely Covering Pajamas
WHAT: Printfresh Eco Satin Wildest Dreams Set in Bagheera*
We’ve written entire monologues about these pajamas. They’re light and almost silky soft and help us sleep cool instead of a puddle of sweat, and we love them forever and want them in more prints. In fact, if you’re reading this and you happen to be married to us, we want these in more prints*.

11. These Chunky Boots Because All Men’s Secret Desire Is That We Wear Stilettos
