The 6 Most Comfortable Black Boots That Are Also Extremely Stylish
Why is the one thing we all want so impossible to find?
by The Candidly Team
Comfortable boots that are also supremely gorgeous are, how do you say? Ah yes. A nightmare. Just a total nightmare.
The heel is wrong. The quality is bad. They feel comfortable the first day but then our legs feel like they’re being broken in half on day two. The zipper is dumb. The toe is too narrow.
There are so many ways black boots can fail us. And so we have made it our mission to round up our favorites, with varying price points, so you can just have this article be the last article you ever have to read again about stupid black boots.
They all come in black (of course) but we maaaay have some of them in other colors because you cannot imagine how exciting it feels to wear a boot that is not black.
Which is probably another article for another time.
So here they are. In no order (except they sort of are in order)—our favorite black boots of all time that are both wildly comfortable and impossibly chic.
Pros: Chic, mega comfort
Cons: Often sell out of sizes
Price: $178
2. Inez Paz 90 stretch
These boots are shockingly unassuming. But for a 3 1/2 inch heel, nothing comes even close to this level of comfort. The entire upper is made of a soft, stretchy suede, and the toe box is slightly tapered but still roomy (they call this style a “snip,” who knew?) so if you can’t really do a full point but you don’t want something clunky and boxy, this is your boot. The price feels extreme but once we wore them for many days in a row we understood. We love that they come in a slightly lower heel, and they also have a “roomy” width for any of our fellow paddle-footed gals.
Pros: Amazing stretch, lots of fit and height options
Cons: Pricey, only avail in suede
Price: $348

3. Nisolo Dari Boot 2.0
These boots are sort of a wildcard. Some of us bought them instantly in all 3 colors we loved them so much. Others had to have them professionally softened where they hit the shin because the leather was too hard. But we have all agreed that these are our most worn boots … in the almond color*. We have never gotten more compliments while wearing a pair of boots, and while most “brown” boots are sort of blah and forgettable, the rich camel color has quickly become our favorite color—it makes jeans look smarter, white look brighter, it just overall sort of pulls together an outfit in a way that black never can. Yes, this is a list of the best black boots, and they do come in black*, but we just wanted an excuse to write about them because they’re just that good. Oh, and the price is spectacular.
Pros: Amazing in every way, perfect heel height, magically perfect with everything in your closet, most flattering neutral color, insane price
Cons: Leather can be hard at first
Price: $159
4. Beek Crow Leather Boot
These are perhaps the boots we would show aliens if they came down and asked to see the perfect, quintessential, tall black boot. We even wrote an entire article about them, complete with 397 photos. The heel is unbelievably comfortable and curiously, looks high, while feeling low. It comes in a buttery soft leather and magically works with all our pants.
* Gifted
Pros: The slouch accommodates all calf sizes and yet, we can wear over or under our jeans
Cons: Pricey (though wildly on sale right now!)
Price: $258
5. Dr. Marten’s 2976 Smooth Leather Platform Chelsea Boots
These boots are a dream to walk in all day, and they give every outfit more balance and more oomph. We wrote about how they make us look taller and more put together no matter what we’re wearing HERE.
Pros: Glorious comfort and loads of compliments
Cons: You’ll have to answer 14 people asking where you got them every time you go out
Price: $210
6. Beek Catbird
These boots are PROFOUNDLY comfortable. Like, insanely so. The first minute we slipped them on they felt as though they were broken in from months of wear. These are the heeled boots for people who really and truly cannot handle any incline from heels and refuse to deal with even a whisper of foot pain. The leather is like butter, they’re supremely easy to slip on and off, and perhaps most excitingly, because they have a natural-colored heel, they go with every color outfit you could possibly dream up. Perhaps not navy. But everything else. They are also officially the greatest Boot For Jeans™ we’ve ever worn.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Pricey
Price: $237
