Buying jeans is almost always an exercise in disappointment. What fits us in the thigh makes no sense in the waist and is too tight on our hips but somehow sagging at our seat.

It’s maddening.

Especially for us gals who sort of constantly feel like we fall in between what the fashion industry is doing.

But we have done something we think will take the pain out of the process. Perhaps even spark actual joy. Over jeans!

If your waist and your thighs and your hips and your butt each have a mind of their own, these 5 pairs of jeans might honestly make you weep while trying them on. They all fit so well.

Lets take a look, shall we?

1. Everlane The Way-High® Sailor jean

Why we love it: In addition to being the most curve-complementing sailor cut, these jeans fit smoothly over our butt without leaving an annoying gap at the waist. They have actual stretch but thankfully don’t constrict our hips, thighs, stomach, etc. The shape is incredibly flattering on a thicker leg, lengthening us regardless of what shoes we wear them with. You can see one of us non-6ft models wearing ours with the flattest of sneaks below and still feeling taller.

Word of warning: they keeeeeep selling out, so if you see your size and shade, move quickly.

Price: $128

2. Madewell curvy perfect vintage jean in decatur

Why we love it: We just discovered these jeans at the mall, because yes, we still love the mall. And it’s mostly because on occasion, we get to have one of those magical try-on moments (like we did with this very pair of jeans) where we slink in uncertain then glance up into the mirror to discover ourselves suddenly looking 17x better because we’ve found something that blessedly fits us exactly as it should. These jeans are a prime example. And you can see that we brought them straight home.

3. Abercrombie Curve Love Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jeans

Why we love it: How about this for a curveball, eh? ABERCROMBIE!? The reeking mall-store we all hated (loved?) in high school? Yes. And here’s another shocker: almost all of their jeans are excellent, fit curves, offer short/long lengths, have glorious stretch, and amazingly, not-gaping waistbands. We’ll say it again. ABERCROMBIE!? Try them HERE. You’ll see.

And to see them in action on a real, live person (me), I sized up in them and they fit more slouchily (?) and have more of a boyfriend fit, which is so cute with flips or flats.

4. Paige Anessa Crop Wide-Leg Jeans

Why we love it: We are not known for purchasing jeans in this price range. You? But what we can attest to is that it takes real and true greatness for us to fork over this kind of money. On jeans, guys! Some of you saw the price and ran away but for those even faintly indulging us, these jeans are THE jeans. The flattering, soft, stretchy yet structured, wide-leg, chic, tailored, jeans we’re always, always looking for.

So yes, we spent once so we could end the search and stop buying pair after pair that just sit sadly in our closet instead of being paraded out 168 days of the year as these ones surely are, the price per wear dwindling before our eyes.

Here they are pictured with our new favorite blazer and absolutely zero regrets.

Oh, and they’re also available in plus HERE.

Price: $229

5. Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Women's Jeans

Why we love it: There are few things more crisp, more classic, more consistent than a pair of Levi’s (which happen to also be the favorite brand of stylish French ladies).

And we get why. Le fit! It’s a classic straight-leg but for women with actual curves. We reach for our gloriously high-waisted, medium wash pair constantly, but they come in every color you could possibly desire.
