This Confusing Product Will Make Your Skin Look Better Than It's Ever Looked
WHAT: Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder
WHY: It’s called a “blurring balm powder,” and we have never been so confused.
How can a powder also be a balm? How can a balm be a powder? We saw this product blowing up on TikTok, and it’s been impossible to find for months. But finally. It came. And ohhhhhhhh it’s good.
It feels almost like if a soft primer was poured into a pot. Or like if a powder became a cream. None of these phrases even make sense because this product doesn’t make sense. It feels allllmost like a silk texture when you smear your fingers in the pot. Photos will do it justice more than words can. Behold its magic:

So what is this witches brew?
Well, apparently, in addition to being certified “clean” at Sephora (though tbh we’d buy this over and over again even if it wasn’t) it contains something the brand refers to as a “the Swedish, super ingredient upsalite.” We did a (very deep) dive like the annoying needs that we are, and found THIS fascinating study, but if you want the cliffs notes, here they are:
It’s a form of magnesium carbonate and it’s ultra porous, which allows it to absorb sebum (oil) as a much faster rate than other cosmetics. It ALSO contains no water, which means it’s incredibly good at absorbing moisture, meaning it will lock in your own moisture, resulting in a perfect, not-shiny glow. All. Day. Long.
So here’s another side by side.
In the photo on the left, the “yummy skin” has just been applied around 9 am. And then the photo on the right was taken around 6 pm. No filters and zero touch ups throughout the day.

Like. Does it look…BETTER at the end of the day? There’s some light glow but zero shine. Is this even real? Our heads are exploding just writing this. Like yes, it went viral on TikTok, but why isn’t it viral in all of the world? This is a game-changing ingredient, especially for all of us old mature-skinned gals who still weirdly produce lots of oil in our t-zones but who also are getting wrinkles. It blurs your pores like no powder ever could, creates a perfect, skin-like coverage that feels like nothing on the skin, and it’s so easy to apply. We’ve gotten in the habit of smearing it on in the car with our fingers WITHOUT USING A MIRROR. Again, struggling to even comprehend how this is possible.
