We’re Doubling Down On How Amazing These Pants Are For 40+ Women With Both Butts And Bellies
WHAT: Maeve Colette Magic Fabric Full Length Pants*
WHY: This isn’t the first time we’ve talked about these pants. Not even the 31st time.
It’s not because we’re sponsored by Anthropologie (though, by God, we dreeeeeam of being sponsored by Anthropologie).
It’s because at the age of anything over 35, we know the rarity of finding pants we really and truly love on our bodies. With pants, the fit is everything - not the trendiness, not the color, not even the cut. It has to look good from every angle on all of our lumpy, bumpy bottom halves. And these pants … well, we’ll just show you:
They’re called the Colette. They’re made of something Anthropologie calls their “magic fabric” which has a smoooooothing kind of stretch that feels like we’re in house pants, a feeling we find we now require for our mood to stay remotely stable in perimeno/meno.
Yet the shape is thrillingly chic. Highlights include:
The verrrry slightly bell-shaped wide leg elongates the leg.
The tailoring is incredible on curves.
The front pockets, which incidentally help conceal a belly pooch, remind us of something you’d see on the streets of Paris in 1975. “Colette” is correct.
It’s a symphony of attributes that make these the kind of pants we want to reach for daily and wish we owned in every color, which is actually near-impossible because it seems like every week Anthro releases a new color … or PRINT!
They also come in a knit denim so soft, we almost cried when we tried them on. These might be the only jeans we’d ever wear on our period. That’s the kind of cloudlike, stretch we’re talking about.
And now is the fun part where we show you all the styles of the Colette we (non-6ft models) have been wearing in the wild that we bought with our own money.
The magic fabric*:
The corduroy*:
The soft denim:
The plaid*:
And of course, the cropped, which we’ve written about before and also come in a flurry of variations, though we have to say we’re loving this scalloped detail* at the moment:
They also come in stripe* and velvet* and too many other combinations to possibly show them all to you. The point is we own these pants in many, many versions, and it’s all because of that flattering fit. Our Editor-in-Chief even wrote about them being the best-fitting pants both before and after her 60 lbs weight loss.
They come in an excellent size range with plus, tall, and petite. What else can we say? Oh! The pants in black are currently on sale for $50!
Price: $130
