Ok, This Is Officially The Best Blush For Mature Skin. No Rebuttals.
WHAT: Laura Gellar The Wonder Balm Cream Blush*
WHY: Ok listen. We’ve written about a lot of blush. We are blush people. Blush can truly make or break a makeup look. Too pink—clown. Too orange—fake. Too shimmery—pores. We’ve been pretty rhapsodic about THIS amazing cream blush that’s trendy but also supremely great, we love THIS polarizing blush that does wonders for the skin but is extremely sticky so that’s not the best, we love THIS water-based blush from a fancy brand but not everyone will want to spend that kind of money on a dumb blush.
And so today we bring to you what we are declaring, unequivocally, the most beautiful and flattering cream blush for mature skin that we’ve ever tried.
It is called The Wonder Balm Cream Blush* by Laura Gellar and might just be the most underrated blush on earth.
Here are its visual credentials:
This is … exactly how we want our blush to look—glowy, gorgeous, aprés ski, flushed, dewy, lit from within. Anything else? Oh yes, youthful. But you know what this blush is NOT? Shimmery or glittery or sparkly, and yet, it still looks ethereal. And this is why we are officially crowning this cream blush the best. And when we say crowning, we mean the full Cersei Lannister silver crown look when she’s in that black outfit with the armored epaulets.
Here it is on our edit-in-chief Audie atop the faintest of whisper of tinted moisturizer:
That’s the color “pinch me pink” though the color “rosy refresh” is presently in our cart and calling to us even as we type these words —we fear we will succumb once we have copy edited this article sufficiently for it to appear “live on site” as they say in the “biz.” (What biz? We don’t know.)
Ok, so what makes this different/better/ than all the other 47,592 cream blushes on the market? Well, we don’t know. It might be the squalene—an extremely lightweight, non-comedogenic oil that instantly hydrates while never feeling sticky or oily. It’s also anti-inflammatory so it actually has *calming* effects on the skin the more you wear it.
Our favorite part about this blush and formula though is that it’s impossible to mess up because it’s so sheer and easy to apply. We use the tips of our 3 fingers, smear them the pot, and then tap tap tap on our cheekbones going up toward our ears. Pro tip: if you create a flush on the tops of cheekbones and a little bit on the nose, it mimics where the sun will hit naturally. If you just load it into the apples of your cheeks, your face will appear wider.
We don’t ask you to blindly trust us that much (that’s a lie) but we are telling you right now—this is going to become your favorite blush.
