I Finally Found Cindy Mancini's Jean Jacket. My Life Is Now Complete.

WHAT: AGOLDE Palmer Jacket (Weightless)*

WHY: I’m sure I don’t even have to mention the title of the movie. Or her car. Or the cropped, white suede jacket. I know they’re never far from your mind. I know that something about them shaped the essence of who you are and what you love because they shaped the essence of who I am and what I love.

But there was a particular piece of clothing that she wore that, without even realizing it, became the heartbeat of my entire sartorial life—from high school, where it was dripping with buttons, to college, oversized, to young adulthood where it became almost practical, and now middle age, as a sort of full circle  throwback to my youth.

It is, of course, the jean jacket.

If you read my articles (and if you do, thank you ever so much because I enjoy employment) you’ve perhaps read THIS where I reveal the truly astounding, verging on concerning number of jean jackets I own, but little did I know that I  was amassing a collection without fully understanding what I was looking for all along. Which was this:

Not high rez, not crisp, barely usable on Instagram and frankly, I took a risk even writing this article because low-rez photos bomb on Instagram, but I find that to be unacceptably agist because us Gen Xers are going to love some old, 80s shit and it’s going to be blurry so if you DON’T let it bomb you are doing the lord's work here.

Now listen. As per our convo above regarding my unhinged jean jacket collection, I definitely have some favorites. But heretofore I haven’t felt this way about a jean jacket until I tried on the Agolde jean jacket. I realize I said the phrase “jean jacket” 3 times already in this paragraph and that’s too many times to call myself a professional writer, but perhaps it is an unconscious attempt to make you, also unconsciously, realize that your life has also been leading you to this very jean jacket. Ok now that’s 5 times. But perhaps you’ll forgive when you see it:

I really hope that you and I are joined at the soul enough that I don’t have to use my words to explain why this jean jacket is so utterly perfect. But I guess I will anyway.

LOOK AT THE SUBTLE CROP. It is perfection.

LOOK AT THE VOLUMINOUS ARMS. They are perfection.

LOOK AT THE WASH. It is perfection.

I force everyone who enters my house to try on this jean jacket and everyone who tries it on immediately buys it even though it’s more than any of us have ever spent on a jean jacket. It’s that powerful.

Now the fun news. I’m wearing an extra small so they run about one size bigger than your normal size. And yet, even oversized, it never looks sloppy because of the aforementioned perfect crop.

Ok, that’s 11 times I said jean jacket. Which, coincidentally, is the number of jean jackets I own. But if I had to keep only one, well. Do I have to say it?

Price: $268

Here are some photos  for the few of you who read til the end because every outfit is perfect and please vote HERE if I should try to find all of CM’s clothes:
