We Found 8 Essential "Quiet Luxury" Pieces For Fall. All Affordable. All From One Underestimated Brand.

We’re not wasting this autumn, friends.

by The Candidly Team

Every fall we find ourselves getting very lusty for clothes. It’s why we write entire articles about Sally Albright’s 1989-in-New York wardrobe. And Rory Gilmore’s enormous cable-knit sweater.

Fall clothes are the best. They’re also the most sumptuous. When else do you pull out your creamy sweaters and suede bags and leather boots and proper plaids?

But dressing “quiet luxury” doesn’t always call for a label. It’s a matter of finding perfect, staple pieces that make every outfit feel grounded in something classic - the kinds of clothes you’ll look at in 20 years and say “Ugh, I still love that skirt." Where the f*&% is that skirt? I want to wear that skirt.”

Well, we found that skirt. Along with 7 other items of clothing (and 4 accessories but who’s counting?) that have made our fall closets feel complete. They all come from J.Crew Factory, which by the way is a haven for affordable versions of these kinds of pieces.

So let’s get to them.

1. This Luxe Skirt That Makes Us Feel Like CBK

WHAT: Sueded Midi Skirt*

We’ve long wanted to recreate THIS Carolyn Bessette Kennedy look, but for anything this understated to work each piece needs to be jusssst right. This skirt, with its buttery sueded camel and skimming fit, is indeed jusssst right.

That said, we also throw it on with a $25 t-shirt* and tall boots and call it a day:

Skirt* (gifted) | Tee* | Boots* | Coat*

Price: $54.50

2. This Cardi That Reminds Us Of That Katie Holmes Sweater We’ve Wanted For 7 Years

WHAT: 100% Cotton Sweater-Jacket With Pockets*

There’s an iconic photo of Katie Holmes (the queen of street style) hailing a cab in a similarly front-pocketed sweater that dips off her shoulder to expose a matching knit bralette. And while we’re too ancient for the bra, we will be wearing this sweater over THIS* knit tank with straight jeans* and black mules*, and feeling very, very good about ourselves.

Price: $74

3. These Velvety Ballet Flats That Work With Everything

WHAT: Velvety Square-Toe Mary Jane Flats*

Ballet flats make everything more Audrey Hepburn. They’re graceful. Feminine. A bit “dressed up.” This velvety pair is indescribably comfy. We can walk for miles in them. And do.

Price: $76.50

4. This Herringbone Blazer That Matches Black, Brown, And Tan. Wheee!

WHAT: Herringbone Wool-Blend Schoolboy Blazer*

It’s very smart to buy one patterned blaze that weaves in every neutral color we wear, so we can put on boring all-black outfits or white tees and jeans, then just throw on the blazer and boom, we’re elevated and autumnal and done, done, done, as Eloise would say.

Price: $99

5. This Striped Button-Down That Isn’t As Much “Quiet Luxury” As It Is Cute And French-Looking

WHAT: Striped Ruffle Button-Up Shirt*

Ruffles may not be “quiet,” but they are the kind of detail that makes something as classic as a striped button-down just a little more special. Also, the price is mad.

Price: $39.50

6.  These Classic Black Boots That Turn Clothes Into Outfits - Suede Boots

WHAT: Tall Snip-Toe Boots*

A tall boot is like the supersuit of looking elegant the last quarter of the year. Toss them on with any dress, skirt or fitted jean, and your mood/confidence/natural smolder will be boosted by 72%. They also come in a sueded “warm brandy*.”

Price: $124.50

7. This Everyday Cableknit Tee

WHAT: Short-Sleeve 100% Cotton Cable Crewneck Sweater*

Grab this instead of a dumb t-shirt, and oops, you’re styled.

Price: $55

8. These Flattering, Pre-cuffed Fall Jeans That look Incredible With Boots

WHAT: Slim Wide-Leg Cuffed Jean*

We always, always want to pull off that “cool girl” cuffed jean that looks sooooo good on ladies like Jennifer Aniston and Anne Hathaway, but the bottom always rolls down or puffs out or just looks dumb. These do all the work for us. And they have stretch!

Price: $79

Bonus: The Accessories

The Clip* - You could also ignore everything we’ve gabbed on about in this article and just buy this plaid clip.

The Cap* - Ditto this plaid cap. How thrilling is it that caps are considered luxury now?

The THICK Chain* - Maximalism is the new minimalism. But only where chain necklaces are concerned.

The Bucket Bag* - You never see this level of loveliness at this price.
