We Need To Talk About Skorts
Were we wrong about them all along?

For some of you, this will be a tough sell. And please know, it was for us, too. After all, skorts have long been sidelined as the oddball things our moms put us in in 1987. On a dorkiness scale, they’re right up there with socks with sandals and tankinis. But like the once-considered-dorky fanny pack, skorts are making a comeback.
And here’s the shocking bit. We couldn’t be more on board.
Why is that? 3 reasons:
1) Skorts look like skirts - and skirts automatically uplevel our chicness factor.
2) Skorts offer us a way to unselfconsciously wear short skirts without fear of popping out - any which way.
3) Skorts give us another layer of “smoothing” that makes wearing short things more comfortable.
They are, in short, a solution. Permission to finally forego our fears and feel chic in the heat. And of course, all of this is only really possible because skorts are good now.
Allow us to provide physical evidence.
Exhibit A: The "Clean Girl" Linen Skort
What: Gap Linen-Blend Mini Skort*
Why we love it: This is such a sleek alternative to sacky shorts. The lines are clean. It goes with every top under the sun. And it comes in tall, petite, and sizes up to XXL to ensure you get just the right fit for your height.
Price: $50
Exhibit B: The Audrey Hepburn Skort Dress
What: Amanda Uprichard Bethany Skort Romper*
Why we love it: Even though it has that gorj hourglass, nothing about this dress is too fitted, so you don’t feel suctioned. Your legs will never look better, making it one of the funnest summer, going-out outfits. And it frankly comes in too many colors we want.
Price: $233
Exhibit C: The Jean Skort
What: J.Crew Denim Skort*
Why we love it: With any tank or tee, we’ve never felt such a Cindy Mancini level of cool. IYKYK. The shape is the perfect mix between fitted and A-line, so it flatters hips and butts to no end. And it sizes up to 22.
Price: $118
Exhibit D: The Wrap Skort
What: Old Navy High-Waisted Linen-Blend Mini Skort*
Why we love it: The wrap is so effortless. It comes in many color and print options, but the floral is extra cute with white sneaks and a jean jacket.
Price: $15
Exhibit E: The Quiet Luxury Vacation Skort
What: Veronica Beard Agee Belted Wrap Skort*
Why we love it: This image alone could be our entire argument for how skorts are now both cool and chic.
Price: $268
Exhibit F: The Ultimate Summer Skort Dress
What: The A&F Scarlett Strapless Linen-Blend Skort*
Why we love it: Please just go see how many pretty prints this dress comes in. The florals make us want to book plane tickets. The gingham is in our carts as we speak. The short length means we can wear it a little looser while still looking stunningly elongated. There are straps that attach for those who require it, but any bandeau bra works just fine underneath.
Price: $80
Exhibit G: The Rachel Green Skort
What: Nia Fennel Herringbone Pleated Skort*
Why we love it: We’ve waited 20 years to recreate THIS iconic look, and finally we can do it justice … while living in complete comfort.
Price: $125
Exhibit H: The Sporty Skort
What: Beyond Yoga Spacedye Movement Skirt*
Why we love it: Beyond Yoga makes the most beautifully buttery leggings, so their skort is our natural go-to for when we’re going sporty, but in black, it can actually also dress up as a flawless pencil skirt.
Exhibit I: The Charlotte York Skort
What: Tuckernuck Cream Geo Erica Skort*
Why we love it: Right?! We might even add a matching headband.
Price: $158
