11 Dupes For Rachel’s Most Iconic Outfits From Friends

by The Candidly Team

If there were a magic mirror that let us try on all the outfits we lusted after on TV from 20+ years ago, like 90% of them would have us balled up on the floor, laughing so hard we’d struggle to regain breath. I’m looking at you Brenda Walsh’s pinstripe shirt and clown tie.

And sure, the other 10% would be the most thrilling, fashion-y things we’ve ever worn, but all in all, the odds wouldn’t be in our favor.

Until, of course, we tried on the outfits of Rachel Green.

Who would have thought that a woman who showed up on our screens in a 90s princess wedding dress would have a fashion arc even more glorious than her character’s? And an overall wardrobe we’d still want some two decades later?

And so, because we’re a bit off the rails, we decided to reassemble Rachel’s most iconic outfits with pieces from today.

No magic mirror needed. All of the things we loved most still exist, in some amazing version, right here in real life.

1. tHE jeans and white tee

Could there be anything more classic than a pair of crisp Levi’s jeans and a fitted white tee? We think not. And these are the best of them.

Levi's 720 High Rise Super Skinny Women's Jeans

There is no waistline more comfortable and no fit as smooth and skinny as the ones on these jeans.

Price: $98

Levi's Wedgie Icon Fit Ankle Women's Jeans

If you’re looking for Rachel’s exact go-to style, as pictured above, these are your very best bet. Buuut if you’re seeking the all-around most gorgeous and flattering jeans for curves, you’ll want THESE.

Price: $98

James Perse Deep V-Neck Tee Shirt

There’s this rumor that likes to swirl around that the only tees Jennifer Aniston wears are James Perse. It’s probably not true, but if it we’re, we’d get why. From the swooped neckline to the light, airy material, it’s truly the most complementary (and comfy) t-shirt one can wear.

Price: $28 - $40

2. THE GREEN DRESS

The fit. The color. Why can’t we find dresses that make us feel the way this one looks, or that look the way this one makes us feel? You get what we’re trying to say here. Bottom line: we found 3.

Whistles Maria Maxi Dress

A flawless match for the original, but naturally, it sells out all the time, so if you see it in your size, pounce!

Price: $399

Show Me your Mumu Eden Midi Dress

Another near-exact match, but this time in a stretchy midi that feels as good as it looks.

Price: $148

Norma Kamali Diana Gown

The obvious connection here is the wildly special seafoam color. But before you call us out for it not being the exact cut of Rachel’s, can we just say that this dress flatters on the exact same level? And it does so on every body type - especially curvy. We wrote all about this dress HERE, because as soon as we tried it on, we decided it was possibly the only party dress we ever wanted to wear again.

Price: $215

3. the perfect sweater shirt

When we weren’t trying to copy her awe-inspiring hair, we were walking into store after store (because we did that back then) to find this shirt/sweater/supremely special item we “need” to complete our closet.

Verdusa Women's Colorblock Contrast Polo Collar Short Sleeve Blouse Shirt

An incredibly well-executed replica. For under $30 no less.

Price: $28

Alice + Olivia Chase Puff-Sleeve Sweater with Collar

This one is splurgy, we know. But it’s timeless. And well constructed. And the sleeves are straight out of our dreams. Also, the collar is detachable - though I doubt we’d find reason to take advantage of that feature.

Price: $330

4. the short skirt and knee-high boots

We chose this look despite the fact that we do not have, nor have we ever had, Jennifer Aniston’s legs. But this look is so smartly put together with knee-high boots and tights for extra coverage that anyone can truly pull it off.

SANGTREE Girls Women's Pleated Mini Skirt

Admittedly, the price is amazing. But it’s the perfect size of the pleats and the stretchy waistband that make us willing to take the plunge with this particular skirt.

Price: $23 - $32

Franco Sarto Koko Knee High Boot

Anyone who remembers Monica painfully limping her way through an episode where she indulged in expensive boots only to be left in agony will appreciate that this pair won’t break our ankles or our bank. They come in a comfy wide calf. And they’re still alarmingly chic.

Price: $80 - $190

Everlane The Pima Micro-Rib Turtleneck

This is the only turtleneck we actively love. The only one.

Price: $50

Sheertex Essential Sheer Rip-Resist Tights

We’re too old to have tights that run. We fold our underwear now for crying out loud. We’re serious people, and we want serious tights. Ok, we still don’t fold our underwear. But the tights thing is real.

Price: $35

5. The lace blouse

We’re gonna do our best to ignore the fact that we fully wore a similar puffy thing in our hair to the one Phoebe’s wearing in this pic and just focus on the iconic lace blouse to her left. There are SO many versions of this blouse, which dresses up every bottom we own in an effortlessly lovely way. Here is just a sampling of our favorites.

Paige Saldana Blouse

Rachel’s precise perfect shirt. But in blessèd black.

Price: $279

FP One Effie Top

A slightly more casual spin on the full lace look worn by Rachel, but we actually think this light, flowy top is even more wearable, while having that same romantic boho effect.

Price: $128

6. the loungewear look

Because we know she didn’t buy this outfit with football in mind, of course, it wound up being the cutest and coziest one on the field. Plus, a loose tee over a fitted long-sleeve is just one those things that looks great on everyone. It may seem like an easy look to throw together, but here are the absolute most buttery soft things that take it to a whole other level.

Cozy Earth Rib-Knit Bamboo Jogger Pants

Picture the softest most breathable thing you own. Yeah, these are better.

Price: $150

Free People Graphic Tees

Free People has a knack for sourcing THE softest, lightest, most flatteringly slouchy tees on the planet. We love this one, but you can see a whole slew of them to fit your personal taste HERE.

Price: $48 - $68

Everlane The Pima Micro-Rib Long-Sleeve Crew

The smooth, skinny ribbing on this Everlane style ensures it has two essential things: a perfectly fitted fit and a silky soft feel.

Price: $50

UGG LA Cloud Lace

There is something so heavenly about the way these shoes feel, we wrote a whole piece on them HERE. The soft, airy, pillowy support is everything. And we promise, they’re very cute on.

Price: $120

7. the long black dress

We know. This dress wasn’t actually in the show. But didn’t seeing these promo images on the cover of Entertainment Tonight pretty much every fall inspire a warm-hearted tingle of Thursday-night-TV excitement? And didn’t this dress instantly leap off the page and onto our wardrobe wishlist?

Skims Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress

How can something this sleek and chic be this comfortable? We wrote an entire tribute to this dress HERE, where you can also see how it looks on a real person. Because it doesn’t just feel amazing, it flatters to no end.

Price: $78

8. the loose fit pants and tee

If you’re anywhere where people are, you may be able to look up and see a version of this outfit. This is because it’s probably the most flattering duo of items on this list. A fitted tee that isn’t too long creates amazing proportions with a high-waist bottom. And comfy, loose fit pants are both eternal and highly necessary. We always knew they felt good, but we think maaaaybe Rachel was the first one to also make them fashionable. In which case, we owe her (or her costume designer) an enormous thank you.

Free People Tied Down Wrap Pants

We love the cinched, baggy look of these pants. The fabric is light and airy, but with enough of a “non-loungewear” look to be styled any way we like.

Price: $128

J. Crew New seaside pant in linen blend

A blissfully airy pair of linen pants. The high-rise makes them deeply flattering, not to mention easy to wear.

Price: $98

Free People Leo Pant

A dreamy pair of lounge-around-at-home pants. Slouchy silhouette with a cozy smocked waist. Zoom in on the soft ribbed texture. Perfection.

Price: $70

Maeve Ribbed Baby Tee

This tee hits at the exact right length, making it the most slimming, comfortable, and versatile top in our closet.

Price: $48

9. the long sweater

A long, lightweight duster has a sort of understated way of making us look 10x chicer. It’s such an easy, cozy thing to throw on and elevate an outfit. I mean, it took us a full minute to notice/ remember the painted-on mustache when we first saw this photo, because we were too busy gawking at the sweater.

Naked Cashmere Faye Longline Cashmere Cardigan

We’re obsessing over the line of this light and elongating sweater. Yes, it’s also pure, warm, cashmere, but the liiiiiine.

Price: $275

10. the perfect black pants and crop top

Ugh, nothing looks as good with black pants than a black top. We even have a little rule about this. But for a pair of black pants to be an actual joy rather than just a necessity, they have to have an incredible fit. High, comfy waist. Wide, drapey leg. Rachel took this look to a whole new place when she paired it with a crop top, which you absolutely don’t have to give up on just because you’re not 20-something and serving coffee in NYC. Here’s our proof…

Tronjori High-Waist, Wide Leg Palazzo Pants

We found these pants a while ago and still can’t believe how glorious they are… and at that price! You can see all the reasons why we love them and how we’re wearing them HERE.

Price: $34

Maeve The Naomi Wide-Leg Flare Pants

These pants feel like our softest, stretchiest, most smoothing leggings, yet they have a hold and structure that complements curves beyond reason, more specifically our butt.

Price: $138

Everlane The Pima Micro-Rib Cropped Long-Sleeve Crew

A cropped tee sounds scary but can actually be an incredibly flattering staple. We make a whole case for why it works for us (who are in our 40s) here. Layer it under an oversized button down and you’ll find little else that looks as good on curves.

Price: $50

11. the little yellow dress

We’re fairly certain there’s no other way to dupe this dress than to go straight to a source that sews up our favorite film and TV looks. We can’t fully vouch for the shop, because we’ve yet to try it, buuuut the idea of getting our hands on an exact replica of this dress for $150 is pretty exciting. So, who’s gonna go first? Pleeeease DM us if you do.

And finally, let’s not forget this highly (ahem) “original” look from season 2.

…on second thought, maybe we should.
