Where price is concerned, we’d usually say pair high and low (because we read that in a 90s fashion magazine, and it stuck). But when mixing and matching these very pieces, you can kind of stay low and look like you only paired high with high. They’re just that special.

1. The Coveted Cardigan
We’ve never added to cart faster than when we sleuthed this incredible dupe for Jenni Kayne’s wildly famous cardi. When it arrived, the fit and softness honestly blew us away. We immediately ordered it in more colors, all very much justified by the fact that even adding a zero to the price of this sweater would leave it miles under the price of the original.

2. The Black Bootie
Nothing makes us seem like we have complete command over our look (or our lives?) more than a classic black bootie. And nothing makes us look chic with as much immediacy…or less effort. This one has a block heel for walkability and an ankle height that’s glorious with skinny jeans but also skirts and tights.

3. The Smart Button-Down
We’re not sure why adding a stripe to an otherwise classic oversized button-down makes us look like we spent 3x as much on said button-down, but we don’t really care. We just appreciate how half-tucking this shirt into jeans feels like pajamas but makes us look like we stepped out from our Hampton home to pick a sprig of fresh sage for the soup we’re preparing in our Nancy Meyers kitchen. Also looks gorj when buying canned soup at Costco.

We fell mildly in love with this soft, slouchy sweater set when we saw it on Free People ages ago and naturally wanted it in every single color. And that did not change a bit when we found this beloved dupe, which comes in no less than 26 colors.

This is not our first time bringing up these pants…maybe more like our 37th. But it’s because they are the drapey, waist-nipping, curve-complementing pants we’re always looking for. We all have that one scene in that one movie we watched as kids that doomed us to a lifetime of lusting after the slim, ultra-feminine, hourglass-accentuating trench? For us it was Audrey Hepburn in Charade. And at Iast, we’ve found it in real life.

The high-end clothes real humans live in are always deeply grounded in comfort. This dress may feel like a blissful, breathable sack we can savagely consume a bucket of popcorn in without fear of bloating. But all the while we get to look divinely chic. Especially with #12 on this very list.
