7 Delicious Little Summer Treats That Will Help You Stay Lean If You Love Something Sweet In The Evening
We have a hack so you don’t overdo it
by The Candidly Team
We refuse to live a life without delicious treats. But we also refuse to be overweight now that we’re over 40.
How to square this?!
There are 2 key ways:
Find a handful of treats you actually get excited about, and a few that actually have protein so that they make you full.
Only only only only get treats that come individually wrapped. Very difficult to overeat using this methodology.
As people on major health and fitness and weight loss journeys behind the scenes, it just so happens we’ve been trying treats and curating this list for the last 2 years—today, it’s yours.
1. Bubbies Mochi Churro
Available at Sprouts
You can stop reading right here. Because nothing else on this list is as good. We’ve decided a mochi is life’s greatest evening summer sweet treat. A few perfect soft, chewy bites, 90 cals, simple ingredients, heaven. We’ve only ever found this flavor in Sprouts btw. But truthfully every flavor of Bubbies is excellent—mango and milk tea are our faves.

2. Bubbies Ice cream key lime Pie Mini sandwiches
Available at Sprouts
This is actually a Sprouts exclusive so if you don’t live near a Sprouts, we’re deeply sorry. Because you do need to experience these at least once. Pie flavors and pies in general are of course some of life’s most delicious offerings, but a big slice of pie at night on a random Wednesday in June doesn’t really “align” with our goals. But a petite
key lime finger sandwich for 110 cals? Aligned.

3. Johnny pops organic Red White & Boom Cherry Lemonade
Available at Costco, Target, Sprouts
Was/is there any more beautiful sound than the tinkling bells of the Good Humor truck approaching? If you don’t know what any of those words mean you’re probably rooting and therefore on the wrong side. Go back to TikTok. The olds are speaking.
Ok so. Of course we all got this one, right?
The best! Sometimes we got a push pop, but there were some UI/UX issues with the disintegrating paper. The point is, this popsicle tastes near identical to the firecracker—but it has lovely ingredients and has only 45 CALS! We enjoy one daily in the summer. They have a number of other flavors like cotton candy, watermelon, and fruit punch. They’re all delish.

4. Oikos® Triple Zero Banana Crème
Available at Walmart, Pavilions, Target
We know you’re annoyed because a stupid yogurt is on a treat list and you’re feeling duped, but you really need to trust us on this. This particular flavor is soooo creamy and so yummy, it truly feels like a little dessert. They also do a lemon tart that’s a close second. 90 cals and 15g of protein!

5. York Mini Peppermint Patties
Available at every gas station on earth
If we could only eat one sweet thing again from any category, it may be this. So you have two options here in terms of size—you can buy a bag of these 50 cal minis and keep them in your freezer (because a frozen PP is utterly elite) but you may find yourself negotiating various deals throughout the day about your calorie “spend” since they’re so small. We actually had to switch to the single larger peppermint patty for 150 cals which is yes, more, but we’d never eat 2 of them a day. Whereas it’s easier to continue tucking into the bag of minis. Either way, a frozen peppermint patty at 7:30pm in the summer is a top tier experience. Try it.

6. Aloha Peanut Butter Cup Organic Protein Bar
Available at Amazon
This is more akin to a candy bar at 230 calories, but unlike a candy bar it’s packed with 14g of brown rice and pumpkin seed protein and 10g of fiber. It’s free from gluten, dairy, soy, stevia, and sugar alcohol sweeteners. However, it is absolutely dessert-like and delicious. The texture feels decadent, and we genuinely stay full after eating one - unlike with many, many bars out there.
* sweetened with monk fruit (though the chocolate chips contain sugar)
7. Protein Pints Mint Chip
Available at Target
Even though a full pint doesn’t adhere to our strict rules at the top of this article we had to include this unbelievably delicious, protein packed ice cream. Yes, it’s better than that protein ice cream. The mint chip is our favorite and you really and truly would not know it’s not just regular ice cream. No chalkiness, no aftertaste. If you can manage only one serving, which is 2/3 cup for 140 cals and 10g of protein, you’re stronger than we are. The minute we bring it home we dole out 4 scoops into baby Tupperware and throw them all in the freezer, which comes out to about 100 cals each. Diabolical? Maybe. Disciplined? Hell yes.
