But we’re not just here to crow to you about our most lusted after autumnal objects. We’re here to show you 9 items of clothing that are actual solutions for us in completing our fall wardrobe. Sweaters that aren’t just shapeless sacks. Layering pieces that actually fit over those sweaters without making us look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Possibly the best going out top we’ve ever seen.

1. This Denim Barn Jacket That Layers Over All Our Sweaters
WHAT: J.Crew Oversized Cropped Trucker Jacket In Denim*
Why We Love It: First off, we deeply appreciate a jacket that matches everything. And we even more deeply appreciate a jean jacket. This one makes any outfit 17x cooler, edgier … younger (without looking like we’re trying to look young). It’s cropped which means your whole body sort of shrinks underneath it and looks longer and lither at the same time. It runs very spacious so you can size down a full size (or 2!) and still have room to layer it over your chunkiest sweaters - for that chilly trip to the pumpkin patch, for example.

2. This Supremely Soft, Off-Shoulder Sweater
WHAT: Aritzia Wilfred SoftSpoke™ Rhoda Sweater*
Why we love it: We tend to get rhapsodic about this fabric. We even wrote about Aritzia making our favorite-feeling sweater on the planet HERE. The material is sooooffft in the kind of way that makes us lose our breath when we say the word soft. Its plushness, sponginess, and drapiness is all we want to feel on our skin every chilly day of the year. But here’s what pushes it over the edge for us: the neckline makes it a stunning, smoldering look instead of just a sweater. With any old pants in your closet, once this sweater is involved, you have your best fall outfit. Naturally, we’ve carted every color in fear of it selling out (which sadly it does every year).

3. These Cords That Are Wildly Flattering On Curves
WHAT: The Colette Corduroy Full-Length Wide-Leg Pants by Maeve*
Why we love it: We’ve written a TON about the original Colette pants (Anthro’s pride and joy pant that famously looks amazing on every shape of woman). So it’s no big shock we’d fall in love with the corduroy version. Yes, cords are back, and they’re as soft and smoothing and perfect for fall as ever. The color selection makes us feel like we’ve been teleported to a leaf-covered park in a 90s rom com. Add the aforementioned barn jacket, and we half expect to be magically waking up in Sally Albright’s eclectic bedsheets. IYKYK.

4. This Perfect Going-Out Top
WHAT: Marcella Cabrini Top*
Why we love it: We sometimes mourn the loss of the going-out top of the early 2000s. Yes, many of them were hideous, which we were blissfully unaware of at the time, but how convenient was it for a top ALONE to make us look dressed up and styled? We’ve been on a mad hunt for perfect, standalone going-out tops that are classic and chic and will stand the test of time. Well, my friends, we have found the one. And it’s the spitting image of a top we’ve been looking for ever since we saw this one on HBO some Sunday night of yore:

With jeans to a Saturday date night, with a silk maxi skirt to a gala, nothing will feel as elegant or exciting as this top.

5. This Gorgeous Coat That Comes In Every Fall Color You Could Want
WHAT: Sézane Clyde Coat*
Why we love it: These trenches are world famous, but then they went ahead and made this lifetime coat in wool* and suede* (which oops we actually bought and are already wearing).
But honestly, every single version of this coat can turn us into the best-dressed versions of ourselves. Be warned, however, colors and sizes are selling out left and right.

6. These Genuinely Comfy Caramel Suede Boots
WHAT: Dolce Vita Gyra Boots*
Why we love it: Since when has adding a tall, suede boot not been the laziest hack for looking instantly chic? The problem is always foot pain. We make it an ongoing mission to find boots we can actually walk in in pure and total comfort. These boots are on our current leaderboard. And they’re how we transition every single one of our sweet little dresses and many, many skirts to cool-weather uniforms.

WHAT: Quince Luna Stretch Flare Jeans*
Why we love it: Our case for Quince jeans is three-fold:
1) They’s so soft and smoothing and comfortable, we feel like we have perfect shape and can breathe simultaneously.
2) They make our butt look great. We could pretend this isn’t critical, but it is.
3) They’re $50. All of them.

8. This T-Shirt Bodysuit That Always Keeps The Perfect Tuck
WHAT: Nuuds Soft Cotton Everyday T-Shirt Bodysuit*
Why we love it: It’s very simple. We hate, hate, hate tucking and retucking our tees 27 times a day only to find they still look schlumpy and asymmetrical. This bodysuit is heaven, because it’s nice and soft and always keeps it’s perfectly tucked slouch that makes us look put together and chic and slimmer. With the above Quince jeans THIS* belt and a little gold chain, perfection! Oh and it comes in a sea of gorj fall colors.

9. This Sweater Coat That’s Sure To Become A Family Heirloom
WHAT: Sézane Oscar Jacket*
Why we love it: Some articles of clothing just do all the work all by themselves. This coat from France’s beloved brand Sézane turns dumb clothes into full-blown Parisian looks. The billowy sleeve makes arms look gorgeous, and belted at the waist, the silhouette is beyond. It also comes in an equally if not more impressive houndstooth*.

The Cuff Earrings: Riiiight in that sweet spot between statement and minimalism.
The Suede Belt*: Yes it comes in black and brown, but the olive feels like it will elevate every dumb, lazy thing we throw on in autumn.
The Bag That Matches Everything: The slouch made us gasp but the fact that the handle is black means it will go with every brown or black thing we put on.
