Are Capris Back?! Ugh Fine. Here Are 7 We Love.
Believe it or not, we’re not complaining.

Capris have a very … rich … history.
Starting with things like this:

Then this:

And, of course, this:

Yet, when hearing capris were back in fashion, we didn’t quite know how to feel about it.
At first, we were trepidatious. As 40+ women, we worried they’d age us. Would we look silly? Frumpy? Would it open up the floodgates to a sea of other questionable early-2000s trends? Would butterfly clips be next? Or pelvic bone-baring jeans?
On the other hand, there’s something classic about capri pants, something film star-ish, something just outright appealing about them. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re a much chicer alternative to shorts; they cover upper legs, and we can even wear them to work.
In the end, we decided to give capri pants another chance, and we must say in the course of writing this very article, we fell a little back in love with them.
So now for how to do it.
The trick is not just picking out capris that are smoothing, stretchy, and supremely flattering. It’s also knowing how to style them.
If that sounds intimidating, it really isn’t - 90% of making capris look good is honestly just avoiding pairing them with baggy tanks, big old sneakers, or shapeless tees and tunics. And when you get into it, it can be very fun. Think Pink Lady coolness meets Audrey Hepburn chicness.
Here are the 7 pairs that will help you achieve this:
1. The Classic Pair
WHAT: SNDYS x REVOLVE Capri Pants*
Why We Love It: See, when we say classic, this is what we mean, a pair that works as nicely with a tailored vest and heels as it does with a cropped jean jacket and ballet flats. This pair has plenty of stretch, an elasticized. waist and realllllly nice shape. There’s a reason many sizes are on preorder, but fear not, it’s only like a week-long wait, and considering how quickly all the good capris out there are flying off the shelves, it’s very worth it to pounce.
Price: $71
2. The Denim Pair
WHAT: Mother The Stunner Bunny Slip*
Why We Love It: These are made from Mother’s stretch denim that’s nice and sculpting without you feeling squeezed. We slip these on with THIS* whispery white tee and THESE* beloved leather slides, and we feel extremely cute whilst running our errands. We even throw on THIS* scarf scrunch for good 1950s measure.
Price: $150
3. The Flared Pair
WHAT: Quince Ultra-Stretch Ponte Kick Flare Pants*
Why We Love It: If you’re on the fence about the skinny fit, the little flare at the bottom of this pair does amazing things to balance curves. Plus, they’re not too short which is great for making legs look nice and long. They’re made of a stretchy double knit-fabric that holds you in while feeling as comfy as leggings, and yet, you can wear them from work to dinner to the laundromat. And the price is incredible.
Price: $40
4. The Wide-Leg Pair
WHAT: Free People Menorca Slouchy Capris*
Why We Love It: What makes our clothes look good on us comes down to one thing - proportions. We went deep into this topic HERE, but all we really need to say here is that yes, you can wear a glorious, capacious pair of pants that covers your butt and thighs and makes your waist feel nipped as long as you pair it with something fitted up top. We like these pants with a ribbed tank and open button-down, a cute cardi, or a tailored jacket when it gets chilly. It’s amazing how “styled” we look while feeling like we’re in our laziest pjs.
Price: $50
5. The Work Pair
WHAT: Aritzia Babaton Markova Pant - (Re)ssential*
Why We Love It: Aritzia makes our favorite work pants ever. So we’re weren’t completely shocked to find they also make our favorite capri work pants ever. The material makes them look extremely luxe and expensive. The cut is so skimming - not too skinny or too wide - so legs look their best. They come in too many colors we want, including two plaids, and every single one can be worn as a set or a suit. Just utter chicness in “work uniform” form.
Price: $148
6. The Modern Pair
WHAT: Paige Eva Gaucho Jean*
Why We Love It: For those of us with thicker butts/ hips/ thighs, Paige jeans are a dream. This pair glides over all of the above WITHOUT leaving a big old waist gap. They’re shockingly fun to style, the ecru matching everything. Here is how one of us did it recently:
They’re more of an investment than most of the pants on this list, but we do have a code for you. Use CANDIDLY15 to get 15% off.
Price: $249
7. The Loungy Pair
WHAT: FP Movement Take It Easy Heathered Pants*
Why We Love It: We close on something cozy, something we undoubtedly want to wear daily. With sweatshirts and sneaks, tees and flip flops, we’re not sure why these pants look so good on our bodies, which is nice because with how comfy they feel on our bodies, we’d probably wear them even if we looked like the inside of a laundry bin.
Price: $78
