This One Unsexy Trick Can Make The Difference Between Good And Great Sex In The Winter
Sounds nice and warm, but could it be hot?

Despite everything we’re told about droves of babies being made in winter and born in summer, this time of year can actually cast a sharp chill over the libido.
Estrogen levels run lower as can vitamin D, both of which can decrease sexual drive and satisfaction. Add to that the stress, the illnesses, the never-ending Santa list of invisible labor, oh and something called “winter vagina,” and it’s understandable why some of us aren’t exactly beelining to the bedroom.
But we’re here to talk about something a touch more obvious, which is that it’s freezing outside.
And that means our bodies are busy trying to get warm and get bloods to our major organs, and if they’re doing that while we’re trying to enjoy sex, well … the sex might be less enjoyable.
Now, to get more specific, we’re talking about feet. Cold feet were first famously correlated with less sexual satisfaction back when researchers from a Dutch study observed that only 50% of women in the study were able to achieve orgasm until they were given socks, at which point 80% reached orgasm.
This finding wasn’t the aim of the study nor was it considered a scientifically proven direct correlation between socks and orgasm.
But think of the discrepancy between the numbers, and the one simple change that seemed to cause it.
Warm feet meant more orgasms. It may be because women with warm feet felt more comfortable, cozier, safer, or more at ease. Perhaps, blood flow was an issue. Or maybe it’s just that having any physical distraction disrupt our ability to drop into our bodies, feel sensations, get things flowing, etc. etc can unsurprisingly interfere with our ability to fully enjoy sex.
So our big, unsexy sex tip of the season is this:
Wear socks to bed.
Not for sleeping (we know for our fellow peri-and-menopausal women extra heat at night can be the enemy) but for those other activities.
Make them fun, make them fuzzy, make them red (because apparently that color alone is a turn on). Counter their complete lack of allure with a set of lingerie you’ll actually wear.
It’s not the most titillating tip you’ve ever heard, but it’s warm and fuzzy and worth a try. And if you want to hear three more curious predictors of orgasm, watch this from our favorite sex professor:
