The 11 Most Flattering Boots For Wide Calves. Period.

Say goodbye to the strapped-into-a-cast feeling of every awful boot you’ve suffered.

by The Candidly Team

A great pair of boots makes us feel like we’re unstoppable.

We’re old enough to appreciate the powers of a one-and-done thing that elevates everything we wear. And so, we spend each fall season searching. Searching. Searchinggggg.

But why are so many of them bad? Why do none of them fit around our calves? Why are so many of them hideously painful?

So we made it our mission this season to find THE most comfortable, wide-calf, wearable, gorgeous boots in existence.

It took ages, but by god, we found 11 of them.

1. The Low-Heel Boot

Madewell The Drumgold Boot In Extended Calf

We start with what might be the prettiest low-heel boot around. It’s from Madewell, which has been behind many of the most timeless leather staples in our closet. It comes in a buttery tan and black leather, and the extended calf makes it *chef’s kiss* in terms of comfort. Also available in standard size.

Price: $298

2. The Over-The-Knee Boot

Naturalizer Kyrie Wide Calf Over The Knee

Yes! Naturalizer! Can you believe how chic? This pair is also wide-calf, contoured for endless support, has a breathable lining for warmth, and is made to repel water. So, naturally, we recommend slipping them on over skinny jeans along with a massive scarf and sturdy umbrella. Add one of THESE, and you’re a Pinterest board of autumnal sophistication.

Price: $200

3. The Budget Boot

Journee Collection Sanora Wide Calf Boot

The long zip up the side and the soft, smooth material make these possibly the easiest boot on this list to slip on and off. Plus, the block heel isn’t too high, so we get that lifted look but without an ounce of foot pain. And they fit over our calves! Wheee!

Price: $80

4. The Lug-Sole Bootie

Dolce Vita Moana H2O

It’s fair to say that one of the most flattering boots for curvy calves is actually a Chelsea boot, especially when it has plenty of stretch to smoothly glide over our ankle and a lug-sole to balance us out. (So we don’t feel like an upside down triangle reaching its narrowest point at our feet.) Plus, choosing a creamy hue over black or tan makes everything we wear 10x more interesting while still feeling classic and neutral. We actually first fell in love with this idea when we laid eyes on THIS.

Price: $72 - $125

5. The Mid-Calf Boot

Inez Mila

Inez is a brand we recently discovered that decided gorgeous designer shoes should also be ergonomically designed to respond to our feet like the pampered, spoiled, sensitive little bone-bags that they are. The fact that these boots hit mid-calf makes them look insanely flattering on a thicker calf, especially with a curve-complementing slip skirt or a spacious sweater dress.

Price: $398

6. The Suede Boot

Aerosoles Women's Heeled Midcalf Boot

This is our favorite boot to pair with a column skirt and lush sweater so we can stroll about our day feeling like we’re in a romcom in New York. A beautifully accommodating calf, a stabilizing heel for height but no pain, this might be the quintessential fall boot.

Price: $240

7. The Classic Ankle Boot

Nisolo Eva Everyday Chelsea Boot

The perfect ankles boots to wear everyday with everything. They come in a range of gorj neutral shades and are designed to be flexible and breathable. They even have an elastic panel for a bit of extra stretch and ease getting them on and off.

Price: $125

8. The Cozy Bootie

UGG Classic Ultra Mini

Sometimes the best way to deal with never being able to squeeze our calves into some constricting, tight leather that doesn’t fit, is to bypass it altogether. Enter: the bootie.

Ugg is of course a perennial trend, but for good reason. The thick platform sole has a sort of magical way of balancing our outfits (see what we mean HERE), especially our oversized sweaters and fitted bottoms, but it also makes even our laziest leisurewear look a little chic, all while offering up a couple extra inches of height. And of course, it feels like you’re wearing slippers all day. Not terrible.

Price: $160

9. The Sleek Stretchy Bootie

Everlane The Glove Boot

The most graceful shape of boot in the most genius of stretchy materials. This one is for those of us who can’t stand stiffness but who still want to look clean-lined and polished and like we could summon any cab on a whim. Wear these boots with THIS relaxed winter coat and THIS scarf, and we swear, taxis will just start lining themselves up.

Price: $150

10. The Plus-Size Platform Boot

Torrid Platform Knee Boot

For those of us thick-calved ladies who appreciate a chunky heel as much as we do miles of cushioning, we got the boot.

Price: $90

11. The Rain Boot

Bogs Classic II Adjustable Calf

And at last an adjustable rain boot designed to protect us from the elements whilst looking very, very cute. Almost makes us wish for a rainy day. Almost.

Price: $125
