Because frankly, once we saw these, we’ve basically never stopped thinking about them:
They are girlish but chic. Bold but soft. There’s just something about that strap across the foot that makes us feel things. And we’ve been feeling those things ever since we saw Cher Horowitz wear those shiny Mary Janes nearly 30 years ago.
Have we always wanted to make a Mary Jane part of our grown-up sartorial lives? Of course. But so many we’ve tried look too…costumey.
So imagine our shock and awe when we discovered the chicest, grown-lady version of a Mary Jane that has ever existed.

The square toe! The block heel! The height that makes us taller but is still comfortable to walk in! And while it comes in black, it is also available in Clueless-worthy gunmetal.
Now, you’re going to push back on the color. You’ll say silver isn’t practical. And yes, they do make this shoe in black. PATENT black no less, and yes, it’s spectacular. But hear us out. You have black heels. We all have black heels. And we just keep on going wearing our black dresses with our black heels and nothing about any of it is joyful. It’s just clothes. But look at how fun and different and special they look in the silver, STILL while wearing black:
So festive. So statement-y. So NOT just another boring shoe. A mere bonus that we wore them for an ENTIRE DAY and barely noticed we had on heels, such was the comfort level. Ahhh, the magic of the chunky block! We’re wearing them with every, single event outfit we’re cooking up this season. Gorj with dresses, skirts, and particularly chic with some long, wide leg pants like THESE, perhaps paired with THIS, for a holiday look worthy of Cher Horowitz herself.
We are also realistic and know that 99% of you will love the black (we do too) and they are more practical while still being much more statementy because (squee!) they’re patent. Let’s behold:
These shoes brought out so many feelings we had so long ago about how outfits can be fun, and make you feel good, and change your mood. And if your shoes aren’t doing that, what are we all even doing here?
