Sorry, But These Pants Will Change Your Life

Sorry, But These Pants Will Change Your Life

WHAT: Maeve Pleated Wide-Leg Trousers

WHY: If you secretly dream of dressing like Diane Keaton in Annie Hall and Katherine Hepburn in, well, all of her movies, please, please read on. Actually, before you read, just look at them:

They are somehow the magic combination of being a stunningly drapey wide-leg and therefore making your legs look 78 miles long, while also nipping in perfectly at the waist, so as to create the most supremely flattering silhouette of all time.

And here they are on a real human being who is not a model:

And because we are insane (genius?) we actually bought TWO pairs of the same pants. Why? For our secret, life-changing hack of course which is getting them hemmed at different lengths. Owning two pairs of your favorite pants at the two lengths you wear them most has, not hyperbolically, totally transformed the way we wear our clothes. So for the photo above, we kept them long to wear with heels, platforms, etc. So they can be more fancy pants. And then we got a second pair and had them hemmed specifically to wear with flats and sneakers:

It’s a modern day miracle to be able to wear our favorite pants on earth with essentially every other thing in our closet. It’s a bigger upfront cost but the cost per wear is insane. We don’t do this with every pair of pants of course, only the BEST pair of high-waisted, wide-leg pants we’ve ever worn. Which these are.

They’re of course perfection with any button down, though lately we’ve been partial to wearing them with a bodysuit, so we don’t have to be managing our tuck all goddamn day and night. They’re also fully machine washable, which is a dream for fancier looking pants, because dry cleaning things make us want to weep openly.

Ultimately, we’re just celebrating the fact that we finally found a pair of pants that makes us feel like we look like this:

For an added bonus (and full Keaton/Hepburn vibes), we highly suggest pairing these pants with THIS blazer. It’s boxy and oversized, so if you grew up in the 80s, it will either horrify you or be your dream blazer.

PRICE: $148
