You Can Do A Perfect Smokey Eye With This ONE Product. In 20 Seconds. With Zero Skill.

WHAT: Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal Liner in the shade Cinnamon.

WHY: Like every other woman we know, we want a smokey eye, but when we actually try a smokey eye, we look as though we walked into a door.

Why is it so hard?

Things that should be easy but are actually hard (aka making dinner every night and creating a wardrobe we don’t hate) is right in our wheelhouse, so the fact that none of us behind the scenes can accomplish a not-hideous smokey eye was reason enough for us to ferret out the answer.

And the answer, seemingly, is in using the right product.

We’ve been out here messing around with black liners and 4 different colors of eyeshadow and so much blending and shimmery lid toppers and oh my god how wrong we were.

Friends? We now use one product.

One. Product

And it’s this:

Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner.

We have never tried a Victoria Beckham product in our lives, mostly because it’s not widely available, but we stumbled on this incredible video of Nic Chapman (RIP pixiewoo) doing the most beautiful, easy, brown-smokey eye, and we were transfixed:

@nicchapmanhaste This is the most simple, smoky eye, and it is so flattering. @Victoria Beckham cinnamon, eye penicl @maccosmetics Costa Riche eye pencil. #smokeyeye #easysmokyeye #easysmokeyeyes #makeupartist #makeuptutorial ♬ original sound - Nicola Chapman

Sometimes it really is just about finding the right product and this eye pencil (and color) is just right. The formula is so so so easy to blend, you can actually just use your finger and it looks great—though we do love THIS brush for that blown-out, no edges look she does above. And even though thid pencil is deliciously creamy, it stays put all day. Minimal creasing on extremely oily lids but in a lived-in, subtly French way.

Also, even though Nic also uses THIS iconic MAC liner in the video above, we actually prefer the VB liner on its own, finished off with many coats of mascara.

And. That. Color.

It’s not brown. It’s not gold. It’s not bronze. It’s not red. Except it’s also all of those things. Let’s take a look at a swatch of it up close:

It is Cinnamon. And it makes blue eyes, brown eyes, hazel eyes, green eyes pop and yet it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a bunch of eyeliner—even with a smokey eye.

It’s been out of stock for months and we’ve been refreshing various sites daily like crazy people, but this color is unlike anything else so it makes sense that the moment it comes back in stock, it’s instantly snatched up.  Oh, and you can choose for them to include a perfect, petite sharpener at no extra cost:

An attainable smokey eye that takes seconds and lasts all day feels like we’ve won a kind of lottery. And we don’t quite know what to do with ourselves.

Well done, Posh. Wellllllll done.
