by The Candidly Team
We may be style editors who write about clothes for a living, but the truest test of something we get being really, really good is when we send it to our six best friends, three sisters, and one or two taste-aligned co-workers.
And that only happens when a product we buy (or are sent from PR … to be transparent) is so specifically problem-solving that we can confidently say it’s changed our sartorial lives.
Out of the hundreds of things we try in order to dutifully report on them at The Candidly, there are six that we’ve found ourselves sending round to our inside circle recently. So we thought we would share them with you. You game?
Good!
Let’s get to it.
1. These Boots That Elevate Everything We Wear In fall
WHAT: Nisolo Alba Woven Platform Bootie*
Why We Love It: This is indeed a statement boot BUT it’s also this cognac color that matches everything. So when we want a boot with height, support, and endless comfort that also brings something to the table in terms of originality and style, we can slip on this boot over and over, and all our understated fall looks suddenly become exciting.
* Gifted
They’re from the brand, Nisolo, which has mastered the art of making incredible shoes that ignite zero foot pain. And we’re such big fans, they were kind enough to give us a code for you: Use the code THECANDIDLY20 to get 20% off.
Price: $268
2. This Peak-Of-Lace cami We’ve Always Wanted
WHAT: Cosabella Never Say Never Crop Cami*
Why we love it: You know when you see some glamorous 40-or 50-something-year-old woman with a waist-nipping blazer that dips into a deep v and exposes jussssst a hint of lace? Well, we’ve wanted that perfect lace cami with actual support for decades now. And, at last, we have found it.
With the matching panty*, it’s also one of the few lingerie sets we feel really and truly flattered by since we turned 40. Oh, and head’s up, there’s a curvy version* for cup sizes DD and above.
Price: $100
* Gifted
3. This Skimming Camel Skirt That reminds Us Of CBK
WHAT: J.Crew Factory Sueded Midi Skirt*
Why We Love It: This skirt immediately made us think of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, specifically when she wore THIS look. It’s such an easy, “quiet luxury” piece. It looks especially chic with our tall boots and cashmere sweaters. The fit isn’t too tight but still has that sleek, straight shape, so we feel longer, lither, and never like our curvy bits are bulging out.
Price: $82.50
4. This Unbelievable button-Down You Don’t Have To Tuck To Look Devastatingly Chic
WHAT: Simon Miller Loch Poplin Button Up*
Why we love it: This shirt singlehandedly solves the problem of how we can wear an untucked button-down and still have it give beautiful shape. It comes in a stretch cotton poplin, and the fit is truly incredible:
You also must, MUST see the back.
It’s definitely investment, but the brand Simon Miller is currently having a sale where some of the stripe colors* are up to 50% off.
Price: $133 - $265
5. This Flawless Sweatshirt We Own In 3 Colors And Will Be Living In Til march
WHAT: We The Free All Day Pullover*
Why We Love It: When we buy the baggier things that we prefer to live in (like sweaters and sweatshirts), getting them in a shorter cut makes a massive difference. Suddenly, they become flattering and waist-whittling and youthy and cute with every high-waisted bottom we own. Just look at that enormous drop sleeve (great for thicker arms) and the way the elastic sits at the waist.
We’re buying (*cough* have bought) it in 4 colors. And all our cozy-chic friends are doing the same.
Price: $78
