This Is The Only Piece Of Outerwear You Need If You Want To Look Chic Every Day Of Spring
WHAT: Aritzia Babaton Standout Blazer - (Re)ssential*
WHY: There is one item of clothing you can put on over a t-shirt and jeans or some boring, potato sack of a dress, and oops, you’re impossibly chic.
It’s one of the top 3 items we recommend to apple shaped women (like us) who gain weight in their arms, boobs, and bellies. It appears on every list we ever make involving the term “capsule wardrobe.”
Ok, here’s what it is: the blazer.
Now you might be resisting the urge to yawn, but before we lose you altogether, we promise we aren’t just writing this article to state the obvious about a blazer making you look tailored, chic, classic, put together, quiet luxury, yada, yada, yada.
We’re actually writing it to tell you about one particular blazer that helped us understand why all the other blazers we owned were not thrilling us the way they should be.
It’s from Aritzia and it’s called the Babaton Standout Blazer. Let’s take a quick look, shall we?
To understand why this blazer is so good, we sort of have to break down (very quickly) why our previous blazers were not:
Cheap, itchy fabric
Linebacker shoulders
Straight jacket levels of arm restriction
Zero silhouette, just boring, rectangular shape
Proportions that make us look wide and frumpy
General snooze
Better to show not tell though, eh? Here are some blazers we owned before Aritzia’s came into our lives:
Ok, now here we are wearing the Aritzia:
Note the tailored waist that makes you look hourglassy and nipped, the luxe-looking fabric, the room around the shoulders so we can still blessedly move. The shape is so skimming it comes off custom-made and yet, it isn’t tight or restrictive.
It is the most polished and expensive looking blazer we own. It comes in a sea of colors and neutral prints, but we have it in black, and it’s basically replaced every other black blazer in our closet.
We’ve been known to style it 12 ways in one week, as it’s the perfect, light layering piece we’re seemingly always looking for. It works over dresses when we go out to dinner and no other piece of outerwear makes sense. It’s great for work (obviously) but it also makes us feel especially chic on casj days when we lazily throw it on with dumb, old jeans but still want to look excellent.
It’s the blazer we’ve been looking for our entire adult lives. The quality is such that you can buy it once, wear it forever, and send your depressing blazers on their merry way. At least that’s what we did. And we’ve never thought about it again. Until now honestly.
