It’s cold and there’s no “spice” element so October be damned.

I’m not sure this belongs on a site that purports to be a “wellness brand” but whatever because we’re doing it.

It’s not “bad” for you per se, it’s just not particularly a hack or a dupe or high in protein or ultra low in calories or any of those angles which we usually use to create content for you.

The angle in this case, is that it’s the most delicious coffee drink I’ve ever made in my home and I urgently wanted to tell you about it.

Enough talk, here’s a photo:

It’s a Salted Honey Vanilla Iced Coffee With Cold Foam. And if those words alone don’t make you salivate, maybe this isn’t for you. But if they do, I actually can make you an ironclad promise that if you frantically order all of these ingredients right now, your life is going to dramatically improve. I definitely got the idea from a billion similar drinks on social media so I certainly didn’t invent this concept, but there doesn’t seem to be a singular owner of this idea or I would certainly credit them.

Here’s a pic of the ingredients:

Honey Vanilla Iced Coffee with Sweet Cold Foam

Ingredients

  • 6–8 oz cold or room-temperature coffee

  • 1 tablespoon honey, divided

  • 1 heaping teaspoon vanilla paste* (yes, you can use vanilla extract but I tried that too and it’s not nearly the same)

  • 2 tablespoons half-and-half

  • ¼ cup milk

  • 1 big pinch of salt

  • Ice

How to Make It

  1. In a large glass, add ½ tablespoon honey, a tiny splash of hot water to dissolve it, a big pinch of salt, a heaping teaspoon of vanilla paste, and the coffee. Mix everything together with a handheld milk frother.

  2. Fill the glass to the top with ice.

  3. In a separate glass, combine the half-and-half, milk, and remaining ½ tablespoon honey. Froth until light and foamy.

  4. Pour the cold foam over the iced coffee, add a big straw, suck some down, and have a deeply sensual experience.

I do recommend THESE* glasses because they’re huge and amazing—they’re my everyday drinking glasses (which helps me drink tons of water) but they’re actually Weck storage jars. I love THESE* glass straws because they’re extra tall for that glass, and they don’t break in the dishwasher, and I use THIS* milk frother, which is unequivocally the best one I’ve ever tried. Oh, and HERE* is the specific vanilla paste I use. I also use this for all my baking in the fall and for the holidays, and it has completely transformed my cookies and cakes and pies. Transformed. There is nothing else like it. Except of course fresh vanilla beans, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

Here is my friend having a spiritual experience while drinking it after I called her immediately after making mine and forced her to come over to try it.

Pro tip: make sure that pinch of salt is hefty. It’s the secret to all the flavors exploding on your tongue. I’m going to try it with maple syrup instead of honey next time which sounds even better to me and I’ll report back.
