As women who’ve sailed north of 40, we’ve spent decades looking to Jennifer Aniston as a sort of guiding light for effortlessly chic style, stunning hair, and unbelievably toned arms. Ugh, those arms. Makes us want to stop typing and hoist up something heavy right this moment.
She has the kind of beauty that’s understated and timeless. The nude flip flops and perfect-fitting tanks. The no-makeup makeup. The precisely tousled locks shining down to her shoulders. She’s mastered it all. And we know, we know. She obviously has a very well-paid team by her side, but what that also means is that she has a real insider’s edge into the best products out there. So when she made a video for Harper’s Bazaar UK about what’s in her beauty bag, we scurried to find it all.
So now, without further ado, we present the carefully curated contents of the bag belonging to the one and only Jen An.
1. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour® Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sunscreen SPF 15
Jen has long been a fan of Elizabeth Arden’s classic, celeb-and-grandmother-loved, do-all Eight-Hour® cream, but she relies on this lip protectant stick* or the balm version to keep her lips quenched throughout the day. It’s bursting with emollient oils and even has an essential bit of SPF to keep lips from shriveling under the sun.
Price: $33
2. Image Skincare Daily Prevention advanced smartblend mineral moisturizer SPF 75
The healthful tint of this SPF color corrects while infusing your skin with moisture, so you don’t get that whitecast and dried out finish that so many SPF products can leave behind. Any redness in your skin blurs into a soft, your-skin-but-better finish, and a huge dose of antioxidants replenishes and repairs your skin while you go about your day.
Price: $72
3. The Lolavie Hair Trio
Jen calls it a “shameless plug” to include her own Lolavie line in her unbagging, but having tried out a huge number of their products personally, our editorial team can safely say, we do not mind a bit. Lolavie is doing gorgeous things with haircare, and while we’re partial to their life-changing Glossing Detangler, we certainly can’t fault the trio she keeps in her bag.
Powder Perfect Dry Shampoo*: Apparently it took ages to nail this formula, but good things come to those who wait.
Sculpting Paste*: Jen mixes a tiny bit of this product with the below oil and sort of zhuzhes it through her hair to keep the style and add some hydration.
Lightweight Hair Oil*: Are you diligently applying hair oil to the ends of your hair to seal in all its moisture or have you not turned 40 yet?
Price: $25 for the dry shampoo, $29 for the paste, $33 for the oil
* Gifted items included
5. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
Jen is the Chief Creative Officer for Vital Proteins, so it’s no surprise she’d give them a shoutout. The collagen comes from grass-fed bovine and is supposed to support healthy hair, skin, nails, and bones. We love that the travel packs are so easy to toss into in our morning coffee or afternoon, slump smoothie.
Price: $33 for 20-pack
7. Charlotte Tilbury Lip & Eye Liner
She’s looooong-been a lover of Charlotte Til, and so naturally, she knows their liners - both eye and lip - are faultless
Lip Cheat: We’ve heard she uses the berry shade M.I.KISS, surely with one of the aforementioned lip balms.
Rock ‘N’ Kohl Long-Lasting Eyeliner Pencil: Pro tip: choose brown over black which will help soften the eyes as they get more “mature.”
Price: $28 for the lip liner, $32 for the eye liner
8. The Heated Eyelash Curler
We aren’t sure exactly what brand of heated lash curler Jen carries, but it looks suspiciously like this $17 one we hunted down on Amazon. We must concede we’ve never gone wrong with this old-school lash curler, and thus have never felt the need to try out a heated device. That said, please report back if you try it and tell us if we’re missing out.
Price: $17
9. Pvolve P.band®
Another brand that calls Jen a partner, but even so, we were still pretty inspired when we watched her pull this upper body resistance band out of her tote and start tugging at it. As people who lift weights in our nightgown while watching TV and wear weighted vests and ankle weights* on walks we’re already taking because we know strength training is what keeps us from turning to dust, we appreciate equipment that’s convenient and works itself into our lives without hassle.
Price: $44
BONUS: The Gadgets She Keeps At Home
Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar: Jen often mentions this luxe, little handheld, sculpting tool that helps melt products more deeply into faces, while depuffing, and making your punum glow to the heavens.
ZIIP Halo 2.0: Jen once told Vogue “I have never seen such a result from a little machine like that.” Coming from her, that means A LOT. It also costs A LOT. Although we do happen to have a code - Use CANDIDLYZIIP for 20% off.
Price: $156 for the bar, $400 for the ZIIP
