This Exfoliator Made Our Skin Look Better After One Use. Before And After Pics. Obviously.

We only work with companies we feel passionately about, and this post contains sponsored content. Our opinions are 100% our own, and in fact we only work with brands AFTER we've discovered something of theirs we love. Supporting this content means we all get to keep doing what we're doing here at The Candidly. And keep our jobs. So thanks for that. This Exfoliator Made Our Skin Look Better After One Use. Before And After Pics. Obviously.

WHAT: Furtuna Skin Triple Active Exfoliator*

WHY: We love exfoliating. It’s the one category of skincare that feels like it’s really doing something. We tell you this because it’s important that you know how many tens (hundreds?) of exfoliators we’ve tried, tested, discussed, and ultimately …never wrote about. Often they didn’t work on our sensitive, mature skin because they were too harsh, the beads were too big and scratchy, the chemicals left us red, or a number of other reasons.

But there is one exfoliator that is so good, we can actually see a visual difference in our skin when we use it.

It is from one of our most beloved brands, Furtuna, and we had to immediately show you a before and after to show its powers.

On the left, a full face of makeup after a long day. On the right, immediately after a shower using plain Dove soap to remove makeup, and the Furtuna Skin Triple Active Exfoliator*:

It’s wild to even show a before and after for an exfoliation product because that’s not really the type of product that really reveals a big difference, but this one does. Skin looks more taut, pore size appears reduced, and overall brightness is evident!

Here’s someone else on our team, and this is her skin after using the exfoliator once, for the first time—screenshot and zoom in on those pores.

We have never in our lives used an exfoliator that instantly made our pores look smaller in this way. And because our skin looks smoother/better/brighter, we are less inclined to wear makeup, and as we age, we find that makeup actually ages us more which is a real catch 22, isn’t it? Our Managing Editor Carolyn wrote about her experience with wearing less makeup here and our Editor-in-Chief wrote about hers hers here - both with VERY convincing before and afters. And of course when you do wear makeup after using it, the makeup goes on soooo much more smoothly.

But now, here’s an interesting tidbit about this exfoliator that we could not have predicted. We were so wowed by its powers that we gave one to a friend of the brand who has extremely sensitive skin, rosacea, and visible capillaries, and she has to be very careful with what she uses or she will either break out, get hives, or become itchy/reactive. Here’s her before photo, and after using the exfoliator once:

Redness is significantly calmed, her skin is brighter overall. How? We can’t say for sure but let’s run through some of the (seemingly) magical ingredients and how it’s different than other exfoliants:

  • While it has a slight grit to it, it actually uses three exfoliation methods—physical, enzymatic, and chemical.

  • The enzymes used are purely from plants, and every ingredient is sustainably sourced. For our information lovers (us too) the specific plants are—Beet Root, Mallow Flower & Leaf, White Nettle Leaf, Nettle Leaf, Purslane, Chicory Root, Poppy Flower.

  • The grit is from ultra-milled olive pits and pulverized perlite—volcanic glass—which is heated to create spherical particles (as opposed to so many exfoliators that are jagged and therefore tear the skin) and this feels very fancy but the difference is SO astonishing, it makes sense.

  • It also contains botanical PHAs and AHAs, which help to resurface the skin—this is part of why it has such a brightening effect.

  • It contains the Furtuna signature olive oil made from their own 800 acres of olive trees in Sicily (again, staggeringly fancy) and because of this, our skin never feels tight after using.

Originally, we were gifted this product from the brand, and we weren’t certain we would have ever bought an exfoliator for this price on our own. But since discovering it, we’ve bought it again and again and given it as gifts. This is why we love having access to so many brands—we are too old and too exacting to use any products that don’t perform, but we would have never found this product otherwise. Sometimes those products are $2 soap from the grocery store, and other times they’re the single greatest exfoliator on earth that’s more than we’ve ever spent on an exfoliator. But because we see such a huge difference, it’s worth it to us. It’s our skin. Our face, for crying out loud.

Word to the wise—you will want to use it every day because you will become somewhat addicted. But don’t. 2-3 times a week max is all you need. But if you skip a week, you will literally notice a difference, which is remarkable. And as a little cherry on top, it comes in a travel size* (as do many of our fave Furtuna products) so you never have to be without it. Try it. You’ll get it. Tell us about the first time you use it HERE because it’s a real “ah ha” moment—we can exchange our before and afters.

Price: $40 for the travel size, $115 for the full size
