This Viral Powder Is Totally Worth The Hype. Ugh.
WHAT: Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder*
WHY: In general, we don’t really believe in wearing powder after 40. It’s cakey, it’s aging, it makes all those little lines show up even more. So we stay away from it.
And usually when things go viral, we chalk it up to incredible marketing departments and celebs on TikTok and the general engine that makes things popular that aren’t really that special.
So imagine our shock to discover that we were wrong on both counts when we tried this viral powder that made our pores disappear.
It is the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder*. And it’s spectacular.
Yes. Not only is it powder, it is LOOSE powder, which we also sort of despise, but for this product, we are setting all previous feelings aside. It’s that good. Plus, we have found we don’t need to bring it with us because it lasts all day so the annoyance of it being loose is deeply minimized. We bought the mini* to try (we buy things to test them with our own money, so we always love trying minis) and the puff is a miraculous material, and we feel strongly it has something to do with the blurring effect it gives:
And now. The big reveal. Here’s a pic of one of us with nothing on except a charmingly shiny layer of oil and potentially sweat:
And now, the after. The powder is used so so sparingly atop this tinted spf*, along with a swipe of gloss and mascara. And that’s it:
Smooth! Pores blurred! Not at all “powdery”! Doesn’t make wrinkles wrinklier! What is this unicorn!?
Here’s an official side-by-side that really bring things home:
And actually, here’s a bigger smile to show it somehow MINIMIZES crow’s feet, it doesn’t exacerbate them.
We used the color “pound cake*” and while the colors seem weird/intimidating, they’re actually so forgiving, and you can’t make a mistake. We are, of course, buying the full-size version* immediately and never looking back.
Price: $23 for the mini, $39 for the full-size
