These Are The Leggings You've Been Searching For Your Whole Life

WHAT: Everlane The Perform Legging

WHY: At some point in the last decade, an earth-shattering, life-changing sartorial shift happened. And as much as we’d like to pretend we resisted, we all wholeheartedly embraced it from Day 1. Leggings are pants now. They just are.

But the search for the perfect legging never ends. There are the soft, thin kind for lounging around the house. The thick, tight kind for keeping everything sucked in. The shiny, stretchy kind for working out. They all have flaws and drawbacks, forcing us to buy pair after pair for every occasion in our life. Which defeats the purpose of leggings in the first place, which is to have 1 pair of comfortable, functional, flattering bottoms to make all of our lives infinitely easier.

And Everlane’s new Perform Legging is as close as we’ve ever come to that ideal.

They’re lightweight and comfortable for lounging. Tight enough to hold everything in, but stretchy enough for the contortions of a yoga class (trust us, we tried this). They are also full coverage, meaning there are no see-through moments when you bend over (we also tried this).

Blessedly, they come in a high waist, which is the correct rise on a legging. AND they come in both a “regular” and “ankle” length, the latter of which is an incredible option for those of us who are vertically challenged and are tired of extra fabric pooling around our ankles.

We also appreciate that Everlane offers up to a size XXL, or a 20, (which isn’t perfectly size-inclusive but is a considerable improvement over many other trendy legging brands), and actually shows a diverse range of bodies modeling the leggings on their website. That they’re made with 58% recycled nylon only makes us love them more.

PRICE: $68 isn’t bad for leggings you will literally own forever and wear 4 out of 7 days a week. Ok 5. 6, max. Wear them 6 days a week for 3 months and your cost-per-wear is a mere 94 cents. So basically, these leggings are free.
