WHY: Unlike almost all other categories of makeup, which are designed to mimic and enhance our natural features, eyeshadow always just sort of looks like....eyeshadow.
It can be patchy. Unblended. The wrong color. Too many colors. There are a lot of ways it can all go sideways.
Further, single shadows seem like a waste of money because you feel like you still need a few of them to create a look. But palettes are also usually a waste of money because inevitably there are 2-3 colors in there you KNOW you’ll never touch. What we have always searched for, is a true, one-and-done shadow we can wear with anything, that can be easily blended even if our blending skills are subpar, and that lasts all day with nary a smudge nor crease.
Friends, we found it.
This genius duo contains both a cream and a powder in its unassuming little pot. The verrrry long lasting cream shadow has a sheer, molten quality that creates more of an eye glow rather than calling attention to the color itself. And the powder shadow is there to layer on top to add some extra sparkly sheen if/when you ever go to a fancy event again. What’s so supremely lovely about both the cream and the powder formulas is that they’re easily pressed on with just your fingers and they blend out seamlessly—so no brushes required.
Blessedly, they only come in two colors and both work for almost any eye color, so you don’t have to sit on the Sephora app, desperately trying to remember some ghastly color wheel equation. Blue eyes, brown eyes, green eyes, both colors work. Though we’re HIGHLY partial to the Golden Peach shade.
The sheen doesn’t amplify wrinkles but rather blurs them, the color itself somehow only drawing attention to your lovely eyes.
If you want to dabble in shadow, this is a good first step. The price feels slightly icky, but if you consider this can be your only shadow, and that you likely won’t “hit pan” on it until 2025, it feels justified.
