This Is The Best Primer For Mature Skin, Without Question

WHAT: Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas

WHY: As we slowly, steadily glide through our 40s, we find that less is more when it comes to our makeup. The more we pile on layers and layers of product, the more we exacerbate texture and lines and pores, and then what’s the point of any of this?

So when it comes to primers, we’ve often just used a really silky, slippy moisturizer like THIS and called it a day.

But because we have been recently having a deep, consuming love affair with the brand Tatcha (truly their serum is perfect), and we saw they made a primer, we decided to give it a whirl.

And we haven’t stopped.

Because truly, after a lifetime of wearing primers and either feeling meh or fully disappointed about them, we finally understand the core function of a primer, because we found one that works.

Enter: The Liquid Silk Canvas by Tatcha.

So let’s start with what it does:

1. It makes your makeup last. All day. Don’t you often find that around 3 pm you look in the mirror and it’s like, did I even DO my makeup? Foundation is patchy, blush is gone and we question why we even spend time in the morning on something so fleeting. This. Product. Solves. That.

2. It helps with overall texture and tone so that when you put your foundation on, the end result is more smooth and even. Especially if you have rosacea—a godsend.

3. Our favorite feature—it basically blurs your pores into nonexistence. It doesn’t get rid of your pores, but it does make it look like you have none. Yes. None.

Ok, so how does it achieve this black magic? Well, the name sort of spells it out for us.

IT’S ACTUAL SILK.

Correct. Silk. Here’s the 3 chief compounds in this primer:

• Fibroin: the chief protein in silk

• Silk Powder: a talc-free setting powder with blurring and setting agents

• Seracin: this silk protein forms a protective, anti-wrinkle film on the skin’s surface, creating an instant, long-lasting silky finish that can even persist after SHOWERING.

Welp!

We’re only sad we didn’t discover this product sooner. Oh and pro tip, we often just wear the primer on its own after moisturizer and skip foundation altogether—that’s how good it makes our skin look.

Run. Don’t walk.

Price: $54
