by The Candidly Team

This isn’t our first time gushing about the clothes from Nobody Wants This. We did it in season 1, and the way things are going we’ll probably be doing it again in season 3. But here we are at season 2, and we just had a revelation.

It’s not just the way the clothes are styled on K. Bell and co. that makes them look so good, it’s the individual pieces the characters seemingly have at their disposal that can make anyone look styled simply by adding that piece to their outfit.

In other words, if you own certain items, you can make one choice each day and automatically look interesting and cool and chic and younger. There are 13 things this season that we felt the need to immediately replicate in our wardrobes as over-35 women.

And because we didn’t already own many of these pieces, we made a little list of exactly how we all can recreate them without having a costume budget of 2k per outfit.

1. THE OFF-SHOULDER, GOING-OUT TOP

Aritzia Babaton Gallery Top

An off-shoulder top is the most comfortable way to show a little bit of skin at any age. There’s an almost carelessness to it that dates back to with the Flashdance sweatshirt era that makes it feel effortless. Throw this comfy top on with high-waist, wide-leg jeans and THIS* unbelievable strapless bra we could sleep in, and poof, you’re irresistible and alluring.

Price: $48

*BUY ON ARITZIA*

Abercrombie Off-The-Shoulder Mesh Hardware Top

This may be the best date night outfit the show has unveiled to date, and it was with a simple Abercrombie top.

Price: $27.50

*BUY ON ABERCROMBIE*

2. THE CROPPED CARDI

Aritzia Wilfred

Softspoke™ Sicily Cardigan

There’s a very clever use of color in the outfits on Nobody Wants This, but even more importantly they know about tailoring. A shorter, more cropped cardi will make you waist look smaller and your legs look longer. This one from Aritzia comes in lots of lusty colors, but the green on Kristen Bell hasn’t left our minds.

Price: $98

*BUY ON ARITZIA*

Free People School Girl Cardigan

Although we have to say the red from season 1’s all-red ensemble was transfixing. And you must experience how beautifully this sweater complements your curves.

Price: $128

*BUY ON FREE PEOPLE*

3. THE PERFECT, CLASSIC JEANS AND TEE

Aritzia Homestretch™ Rib Crew T-shirt

We promised you “special” pieces, so you might be thinking “why are you showing me a t-shirt and jeans?” But that’s exactly the point. Choosing the right t-shirt and jeans makes all the difference. And the fit is key. The fine ribbing on this Aritzia tee smooths every lump and bump and gives us our best shape. And the colors, again, are excellent.

Price: $28

*BUY ON ARITZIA*

Quince Bella Stretch Relaxed Straight Jeans

Quince jeans aren’t designer (in that they cost $50) but they look and feel and fit like designer. Start with this classic, relaxed, elongating pair (the seemingly preferred cut of every gal on NWT), and you’ll want to go back for 3 more.

Price: $50

*BUY ON QUINCE*

Bonus: Stud Belt And red Shoes

Do you need a studded belt and a red shoe to make this look work? No. But does it make it 12X more exciting? Of course! Though we prefer a more minimalist ballet flat to the laced red loafer - a bit more wearable in our real lives.

Price: $40 for the belt, $89 for the shoes

4. The FRONT-AND-CENTER STRIPED TOPS

Nation Busy Sweater

Stripes make everything chic. We spoke about this long before Joanne and Morgan started flooding our screens with polos and sweaters and t-shirts adorned with slightly 70s stripes. Wear this sweater instead of a solid one, for example, and you look completely put together and very wise about clothes.

Price: $101

*BUY ON NATION*

Everlane Polo In Everyday Cotton

Morgan’s polo sweater is sadly sold out, but we not so sadly found this amazingly similar one that we’ll be wearing until March thank you very much.

Price: $62

*BUY ON EVERLANE*

Even more incredible (for the 3 of you who will appreciate) is the striped polo tee-turned-dress:

Sanctuary Polo Striped Sweater dress

With tights and boots, we can think of no cozier, chicer, sportier uniform.

Price: $129

*BUY ON SANCTUARY*

5. The PETITE, POP-OF-COLOR BAG

Clare V. Petite Moyen

You can be wearing a white tee and jeans and add a little bag with a flurry of color and, oops, you’re chic! Clare V. makes our favorite petite bag in original colors, and it happens to be the exact back Joanne paired with that green sweater. Call it power clashing or whatever you like, we’re wildly on board.

Price: $385

*BUY ON CLARE V.*

Clare V. Petite Moyen Messenger

Oops, is this the same bag but in red suede? Why yes. We don’t mess with perfection.

Price: $345

*BUY ON CLARE V*

6. YOUR OWN BELOVED “DIANE” LOOK

AYR The Tate

The outfit Joanne wears in this scene is so clearly inspired by the gorgeous force that is Diane Keaton. The template starts simply enough, with the perfect-fitting cotton, oxford, button down. The drop shoulder on this one from AYR makes it spacious without making us look bulky. The flawless fit and quality is why we’re willing to spend a little more on this one perfect button-down instead of 4 cheap, stiff ones.

Price: $195

*BUY ON AYR*

Everlane The Draper Pleated Pant in Buttersmooth

Tuck it into a smart, pleated high-waist trouser. Don’t spend $200. This pair from Everlane will do just fine.

Price: $59

*BUY ON EVERLANE*

Everlane Luxe Rib Turtleneck

The best base layer for timeless chicness and a bit of Diane quirk, this fitted turtleneck skims your entire upper body and feels like a slippery cloud

Price: $41

*BUY ON EVERLANE*

7. THE SHEER BUTTON DOWn

Fabrique

Bella Blue Sheer Button-Up Shirt in Organza

Just like the off-shoulder top, a bit of sheerness on something classic gives us that swoosh of sexiness that isn’t overdone and still feels comfortable. Wear this pale, perfect blue one over a cami and jeans, and you’ll be the best dressed person in the room. The original top is still available (though $400), and can be found HERE*. That said, we can work this same kind of magic with this very pretty one.

Price: $128

*BUY ON FABRIQUE*

8. THE PATTERNED VEST

Sézane Becky Jumper

Vests are one of those things that are always considered classic, and yet they’ve somehow managed to be made modern again, so when we wear them nowadays we get to look both classic and cool, which is kind of the ideal combination. Add the fact that this one is deeply cozy and the prettiest pattern from our favorite French brand, and basically what we’re saying is, someone please buy us this vest for Christmas.

Price: $135

*BUY ON SÉZANE*

Rowing Blazers Cashmere Argyle Pooh Sweater Vest

No one wore this exact vest on the show, but can we all agree they really should have? We’re just so much more interesting when we have clothes like this in our closet instead of all those blacks and beiges and grays.

Price: $198

*BUY ON ROWING BLAZERS*

9. thE LITTLE LEOPARD PIECE

Mango Leopard Jacquard Cardigan

Little “moments” of leopard can be so chic. And Esther’s cardi over a white tee and complete with those shearling slides is one of the chicest looks this season.

Price: $49

*BUY ON NORDSTROM*

Boden Heritage Classic Belt

We’re not bold enough to do a full leopard pant like Morgan, but a belt makes our boring clothes sing.

Price: $69

*BUY ON BODEN*

10. ThE “FUr” Coat

Abercrombie Short Faux Fur Coat

If you plan to attend any holiday party this season, we can’t recommend this cropped faux fur coat enough. Same with THESE* fleece-lined tights should you wish to recreate the complete look.

Price: $127.50

*BUY ON ABERCROMBIE*

Asos Design chevron longline faux fur car coat

The “Oh no - I'm just in constant need of attention" coat.

Price: $209

*BUY ON ASOS*

11. THE STATEMENT SWEATERS

Saachi Cheetah Cardigan

We own far too many neutral sweaters, so Joanne’s cocooning cardigan in a deeply original animal print felt like a revelation. The exact one isn’t available anymore but we adore this one and THIS one is a very close runner up*.

Price: $83

*BUY ON NORDSTROM RACK*

Sanctuary Fair Isle Cardigan

Every winter, we tell ourselves we’ll buy that one, chic Fair Isle cardi that is the clothing equivalent to a crystal cup of cocoa. Well my friends, this is the year.

Price: $40

*BUY ON NORDSTROM RACK*

12. THE BELTS

Favorite Daughter The Jordan Belt in Black

Erin Foster, who created Nobody Wants This, is also the co-founder of Favorite Daughter, a brand that is responsible for some of our all-time favorite wardrobe staples. The belts you see Joanne wearing that do an insane amount to tie every look together - those are from Favorite Daughter. This is the exact one you see on repeat in the show. We also wear it constantly and get a crazy number of compliments when we do.

They also have THIS very similar one* that comes in the color “bone” for a bit of a spin on the classic.

Use the code THECANDIDLY15 to get 15% off.

Price: $98

*BUY ON FAVORITE DAUGHTER*

13. THIS PERFECT, TIMELESS LOOK

Tuckernuck Black Margot Stand Collar Blouse

Now’s about the time we concede that Noah’s mom, Bina, is actually the best dressed character on the show. Everything she shows up in is timeless, classic, and chic. And it starts with this top.

Price: $128

*BUY ON TUCKERNUCK*

Madewell The Belted Satchel Bag

The centerpiece of the outfit.

Price: $155

*BUY ON MADEWELL*

Jenny Bird Lennon bangle

When the details do all the work.

Price: $224
