The Correct Mayonnaise To Buy If You Are Truly A “Mayonnaise Person”

WHAT: Duke’s Real Mayonnaise

WHY: Listen. We could be here all day discussing the merits of various mayonnaise brands. Hellman’s in sandwiches, Kewpie in spicy mayo, etc etc.

And we would certainly feel smug in saying that the actual best mayonnaise, is mayonnaise made in the home.

But if what you’re after is a hardworking, ultra creamy, universally delicious in any recipe, not too eggy mayonnaise, Duke’s is the only choice.

There’s a subtle zing from the cider vinegar, and unlike almost any other mayonnaise on the market, it contains zero sugar. If we wanted our mayonnaise to be sweet, we’ll buy some Miracle Whip, make 6-10 olive loaf sandwiches on white bread, and then never speak of it again.

WE KID. There is no shame in eating such things. There is only some mild discomfort in saying the word “loaf” as it pertains to a deli meat, but let’s move on.

Typically, we have found that the squeeze bottle variety of mayonnaise is inferior to its glass jar counterpart, thus making efficiency vs flavor a difficult choice to have to grapple with. Not so with Duke’s. The bottle and the jar contain an equally delicious product, and as such, we buy the 4-pack on Amazon so that we’re confident we will never be without. We might even add 2 to cart for ultra preparedness.

You’ll notice we have not said “mayo” throughout this entire review. Which is intentional. “Mayo” is the “veggie” of vegetable and infantilizing delicious food robs them of their importance in the canon of our lives.

Off to whip up a tuna salad sandwich with sprouts and tomato. You?
