This “Miracle” Product Got Rid Of 90% Of My Eye Bags But There’s A Catch
WHAT: Peter Thomas Roth Instant FIRMx® Eye Temporary Eye Tightener Easy-Wear Formula*
WHY: I have eye bags. They’re genetic. I’ve had them since birth. They make me sad. It’s all I see when I look at myself. I’m getting a lower bleph this year. I’m open to hearing about your eye bag journeys and/or surgeries. Someone getting in there with knives freaks me out so I’ve put it off … for 20 years. But 2026 is my year!
In the meantime, I try every. single. product. for bags that comes out. Truly. All of them. And recently I tried one that actually sort of works and that I didn’t actually use. And it’s the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Firm Eye*:
To be totally honest, I buy these things, try them, and wait to be disappointed, even though my greatest wish is for something to work.
But this product … kind of works?
Here’s my before—specifically with no makeup and bad lighting to really get the full effect. And listen, I know I need an upper bleph, too. It’s just that the recent spate of celebs getting wonky upper blephs is too terrifying.
Aren’t you proud of me for putting this horrid picture on the internet for the world to see? Ok. Now for the after. I smeared the cream on under my eyes, and waited about 3 minutes. Exact same spot and same light since people issued me very aggressive and over the top “warnings” when I did THIS before and after. People need to get outside more. Perhaps commune with nature. Anyhoo, here’s the after photo:
That’s a difference! It’s real. It doesn’t look like surgery because nothing can look like surgery except surgery. But let’s look at a side by side:
I’ve tried these types of products before, and usually my main complaint is that they’re so flaky and weird, you can’t wear makeup over them. So? I put on a full face of makeup to see how things hold up. On the left is me in better lighting with the product on (in good lighting the bags are truly almost gone!), and on the right is with makeup layered over the product:
If you screenshot and zoom way in you can see some tiny flakes but it’s not enough for me to not wear it. And by the way, if you have darkness under your eyes, this doesn’t affect that. That can be covered with concealer. But nothing “covers” an actual bag because it’s an indent/puff from within our ocular anatomy—specifically it’s a herniated fat bulge. Cute!
If you try it, use a tiny amount, only on the bag itself. Nothing on your inner corner, and don’t drag it out to the crows feet area of your eye—it sort of feels like an eye cream so you’ll be tempted. But just place it straight on the bag to minimize crusty potential. I did my whole skincare routine first, then used the product, and then pressed a tiny bit of eye cream onto it once it was dry so my eyes didn’t look crinkly. We don’t want to swap bags for wrinks now do we? But here’s a shot of me head on so you can see for yourself:
I’m into it. Especially for days where I’m wearing almost no makeup except maybe a skin tint and lip balm and mascara. I imagine what it would feel like entering a hideously fluorescent-lit room and not hearing how “tired” I look is barely conceivable to me. But really. I’m doing the bleph. Hold me to it. In the meantime, this!
